Analysis: Bishop Sankey started the season strong with two touchdowns and 86 all-purpose yards Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He hasn't done much of anything ever since.
The Tennessee Titans have done their best impersonation of a running-back-musical-chairs, not knowing which back would actually claim a seat in the lineup. But with Sankey's decline and the uncertainty around David Cobb, it looks like it's finally narrowed down to two backs that could serve important roles. Dexter McCluster is one of them.
Likely to share carries and downs with Antonio Andrews, McCluster is still a valuable asset to have in deeper, PPR-based leagues, and should be considered in a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday night. According to Yahoo! Sports, the Jaguars have relinquished the seventh-most fantasy points to running backs this season. The Titans are also depleted in the wide receiver category, another area McCluster can step up in and produce. McCluster has been targeted 25 times out of the backfield this season and is averaging 4.8 yards per carry.
The Jaguars rank sixth overall against the run and 24th in pass defense, which could potentially lead to the increased targeting of McCluster and Andrews by Marcus Mariota. Although in a timeshare, McCluster can prove to be valuable and is worth a pickup, and at least a spot on your bench.
