BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 1% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Opportunity trumps all else in fantasy football. With Jamaal Williams on the receiving end of a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit on Thursday night, it seems likely that Dexter Williams will now find himself with an opportunity for playing time this coming Sunday.
While the Packers haven't ruled Jamaal Williams out yet, it seems highly unlikely that he suits up given that he was taken off the field on a stretcher. Once he left, the Packers mainly turned to Aaron Jones to carry the load; however, they also gave carries to Geronino Allison and Danny Vitale. Since Matt LaFleur has mentioned before that he wants to split carries between his running backs, and did that pretty stubbornly last year in Tennessee, it seems unlikely that the Packers will give Aaron Jones every carry on Sunday.
Dexter Williams himself isn't a tantalizing talent. He's a strong, downhill runner who reads blocks well and is tough to bring down. In what is likely to be a grinding game against a stiff Dallas Cowboys Defense, Dexter's ability to get hard yards may allow him to see work in short-yardage situations or even near the goalline. He's likely not going to post a huge week, but there is a good chance he sees over 30% of snaps in a good offense, which makes him worth a shot in deep leagues until Jamaal Williams returns.
