BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 15% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Heading into the 2019 fantasy football season, a big question regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers offense was who would take on that WR2 role. Many owners including myself were looking at second-year wide receiver James Washington to take that role across from JuJu Smith-Schuster. The entire Pittsburgh offense has been abysmal since Ben Roethlisberger’s season was cut short. Smith-Schuster is currently the WR41 in PPR formats while Johnson is the WR61 in PPR formats.
Since seeing 63% or more of the team’s offensive snaps from Week 3 on, Johnson has two games with a touchdown and six or more targets in three of those four games. While the production hasn’t been overly impressive, the fact that he’s seeing the field more and producing when he’s given the chance, it’s fairly promising. As someone who could have WR3 or Flex upside moving forward, Johnson is definitely worth grabbing off the waiver wire if you’re looking for someone with interesting upside moving forward, as well as a potential bye week replacement.
