Domonic Brown has elected free agency rather than start the 2016 season in the minors for the Philadelphia Phillies.
The outfielder was removed from the Phillies 40-man roster last week. It was up to Brown whether or not he would accept the outright or move on and become a free agent. He decided free agency and could be signed by a new team for a relatively decent price.

Over the last two seasons, the 28-year-old has a .233/.285/.349 batting line after making the All-Star team in 2013. Brown had 15 HR and 88 RBI over those two seasons while he racked up 27 HR and 83 RBI in 2013. He’s still young, which could give him a chance to play elsewhere.
The Phillies are in the midst of a rebuilding period and Brown won’t be a part of it when after 2013, it was believed that he was going to be the cornerstone of the franchise.
