ANALYSIS: Well, another week of NFL action, and another week of injuries. It's the name of the game that we play as fantasy football owners. For those of you (us) that are the unfortunate owners of Ryan Mathews, it was not very enjoyable to see him leave Sunday's game with an injury, let alone being carted off the field. The good news, if any, is that the MCL sprain which he was diagnosed with should "only" keep him out of the lineup for a few weeks. Reports are saying that the injury could keep him sidelined for up to 5 weeks, or longer, but there's always a chance he'll return sooner. At least it's not of the season-ending variety.
While Mathews is out back-up running back Donald Brown will fill-in as the starting running back for the Chargers, and he now makes his first appearance on our waiver wire sleepers list. Danny Woodhead will be in the running back mix as well, but will mostly be used on passing downs, while Brown will operate as the lead RB on the team. He should receive most of the carries between the numbers, and also around the goal-line, which will automatically vault him into fantasy relevance as a solid week-to-week FLEX option with RB2 upside. If you are looking to add another running back to your fantasy football team, or are a Ryan Mathews owner, be sure to try and grab Donald Brown off the Week 3 waiver wire. He may not be your team savior, but he should get a solid volume of work and provide you with another RB option to consider starting on your teams.
