Josh Donaldson delivered a walk-off homer in the ninth inning to help the Toronto Blue Jays defeat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 on Sunday.
Down 4-1, the Blue Jays were able to creep closer and closer throughout the game. The game was tied in the ninth inning when Donaldson came up to the plate, looking for his first hit of the game. The ending was even better for the third baseman.
With two outs, Donaldson drilled the solo shot to catapult the Jays into their 90th win of the season. It was another MVP-like moment as he helped Toronto extend its lead over the New York Yankees by four games in the AL East.
The homer was Donaldson’s 41st of the year. He now owns a .299 BA and .951 OPS with 122 RBI. It’s been a career-season for the 29-year-old who has been the best player on the best offensive team in MLB.
