Analysis: Heading into Week 9 against the Chicago Bears, the San Diego Chargers were without Keenan Allen. After the first quarter Monday night, they lost Malcom Floyd as well. It's now possible that the Chargers will be without either for the rest of the year.
Floyd tore his labrum and is questionable this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. If Floyd can't go and is forced to miss an extended amount of time, Dontrelle Inman will be San Diego's number two receiver. In the absence of Allen and Floyd, Inman was targeted only five times, three of which went for receptions for a total of 28 yards. He also lost a fumble. Number one receiver Stevie Johnson and tight end Antonio Gates were targeted 10 and 11 times respectively, making fantasy owners question if Inman will ever be an effective part of San Diego's offense.
Inman has only accumulated 12 catches on 23 targets this season and remains untrustworthy in a starting role. He did finish last season strong with two straight games of 79 receiving yards, but looks to be lost in the midst of other firepower (Johnson, Gates, Woodhead.) It wouldn't hurt to have Inman on your bench, monitoring the status of Floyd, and see if the Chargers get him more involved.
