In making lineups for Daily Fantasy, I'm inclined to check out past production. How a batter has faired against a team or pitcher last season. Location is also key, as places like Yankees Stadium, Rogers Center, and Coors Field are all favorable hitters ball parks.
A stadium like Citi Field, despite recent opponent performances, typically favors pitchers and hosts a ton of low scoring games. Just ask Mets fans.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 4/13/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings.
DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings
New York Yankees - Home runs are never in short supply when talking about the Bronx Bombers, specifically at home. But the same should be the case on the road at the Rogers Centre. Balls seem to leap off bats under the dome, and the Yankees, 1-9, can go deep at any time. The Bombers face J.A. Happ, who relinquished 19 home runs last season.
Toronto Blue Jays - Any time these two teams face off, we should expect fireworks. The Jays, although struggling to put men on base early on this season, still own one of the most formidable lineups in the league. Michael Pineda takes the mound who was tagged for three long balls in his season debut against the Houston Astros.
Baltimore Orioles - The Boston Red Sox could easily be considered here as well, but after Joe Kelly surrendered seven runs in three innings in his season debut, stacking the O's is a no-brainer. The game is set at 9 runs.
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings
Stephen Strasburg (vs ATL, $11,300)
Strasburg will likely be heavily owned on Wednesday but with good reason. The Atlanta Braves haven't won a game yet this season, and have scored more than four runs only once. Strasburg handled the Braves with ease last week, allowing only one run in six innings, and is fortunate enough to draw them again.
Carlos Rodon (at MIN, $9,500)
The Minnesota Twins have scored the fewest total runs so far this season, only 13 over seven games. Rodon pitched beautifully in his first start, surrendering two runs over seven frames in a 2-1 loss to the Oaklanda Athletics. The Twins have also struck out more than any other team in the league.
Also consider Colin Rea as a punt against the Philadelphia Phillies.
DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings
Catcher (C)
Russell Martin (vs NYY, $3,600)
Martin has struggled so far this season, but will look to get rolling against his former team. Martin cranked five home runs and drove in 18 RBI's against the Bombers last season.
First Base (1B)
Ryan Zimmerman (vs ATL, $3,900)
It's only a matter of time before Zimmerman goes yard and starts tallying the base knocks. Atlanta owns the second highest ERA in the league.
Second Base (2B)
Jonathan Schoop (at BOS, $3,500)
Schoop is off to a solid start and has driven in a run in five of six games. He's also picked up a hit in six of Baltimore's last seven games. It's smart to ride the hot hand, especially Wednesday against Joe Kelly who hasn't finished a season with an ERA below 4.10 since 2013.
Shortstop (SS)
Didi Gregorius (at TOR, $3,100)
Didi finished last season strong and has begun this one in similar fashion. Didi can finally stop trying to wear Derek Jeter's shoes and fit nicely into his own.
Third Base (3B)
Josh Donaldson (vs NYY, $4,800)
Donaldson has returned to third base against the Yankees, and has also picked up where he left off from last season. Donaldson hit three home runs against the Bombers in 2015.
DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings
Carlos Beltran (at TOR, $3,600)
Beltran is as streaky as they get late in his career and can catch fire at any time. He may be well into the latter part of his career but if it wasn't for his ice cold April last season, Beltran would have batted a lot closer to .300. And he's playing for a job next season.
Jackie Bradley Jr. (vs BAL, $3,200)
Bradley Jr. is an affordable piece to a Boston/Baltimore stack. Bradley Jr. picked up his first steal of the season two nights ago and will need to get going on the base paths.
M.A. Taylor (vs ATL, $3,400)
Ben Revere out, M.A. Taylor in. Taylor isn't as good of a hitter as Revere, but he'll do for now. Another cheap option for stolen bases.
