For Tuesday's slate of Major League Baseball games, I'll focus on the contests (first pitch of 7:05 PM EST and later). Be sure to double-check the weather and the lineups before finalizing your roster.
The Diamondbacks-Pirates game in the Steel City will deal with an annoying, misty rain, but the game should be able to get in just fine. The biggest issue will be a 10-13 mph wind blowing out to right-center field. Other than that, the precipitation chances will be under 20 percent everywhere else, and winds will be rather variable in all other MLB venues. Be careful with players from the Tigers and Red Sox, however. They have a day-night doubleheader scheduled after Monday's postponement, so some regulars could be rested in Game 2.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 4/23/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Frankie Montas - P, OAK vs. TEX ($7,600)
Montas pulls into Tuesday's start against the Rangers with a 3-1 record, 2.70 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with a .190 opponent batting average over 23 1/3 innings in four starts. He's even better at home, going 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA and .143 opponent batting average with 12 strikeouts over 12 1/3 innings. In addition, he has a favorable matchup against the inconsistent RHP Lance Lynn, while the Rangers are also 2-12 in their past 14 road games against right-handed starting pitchers. Montas is positioned well for another strong showing.
Jonathan Loaisiga - P, NYY at LAA ($6,900)
Loaisiga will make the spot start on Tuesday, as the Yankees want Domingo German and CC Sabathia to get a little extra rest. He has a favorable matchup against Chris Stratton, who is 0-1 with a 7.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in four outings over 18 innings with 13 walks and just 11 strikeouts. If you're willing to roll the dice a little bit on a mid-tier fill-in starter, you can save bread and load up on offensive studs. I think you'll be thankful for that strategy.
UPDATE: Domingo German will start tonight instead of Loaisiga.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
Willson Contreras - C, CHC vs. LAD ($4,300)
Contreras has rolled up a .378/.540/.811 slash line against right-handed pitchers, including eight extra-base hits across 37 at-bats while driving in nine RBI with nine walks and a 1.351 OPS.
Christian Walker - 1B, ARI at PIT ($4,800)
Do you believe there are still doubters about Walker in the Twittersverse? There is no doubt he is a stud against right-handed pitching, as he is pounding RHP to the tune of a .408 average, four doubles, six homers and 12 RBI across 49 at-bats. His next victim on Tuesday will be Trevor Williams.
Kike Hernandez - 2B, LAD at CHC ($4,100)
Hernandez is 8-for-16 (.500) with two homers, five RBI, six walks and just three strikeouts against southpaws. From 2016-18 he slashed .245/.338/.466 vs. LHP, while going just .209/.289/.370 vs. RHP. More importantly, he is taking more of a flyball approach with increased power while decreasing his strikeouts, especially against lefties.
Matt Chapman - 3B, OAK vs. TEX ($4,300)
Chapman faces a very strong matchup against Lynn, who has a 4.44 ERA and .268 opponent batting average. The hot corner man for Oakland can be a relatively affordable source of RBI, posting 10 over his past 10 outings while also drawing five walks with just four strikeouts during the span.
Fernando Tatis Jr. - SS, SD vs. SEA ($4,600)
Tatis will be facing Slippy? Slappy? Swenson? Erik Swanson. The latter pitcher well in his first start against the Indians, but he'll have his hands full with Tatis Jr. The rookie from San Diego has hit in 10 consecutive games, posting two doubles, three homers, and seven RBI during the impressive span.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Michael Brantley - OF, HOU vs. MIN ($4,500)
Dr. Smooth heads into this one hitting .355 (11-for-31) with two homers, four runs scored and seven RBI during his current eight-game hitting streak, and he has hit safely in 13 of the past 14 outings. In half of those 14 contests, he has two or more hits in seven of those games.
A.J. Pollock - OF, TB vs. KC ($3,600)
Pollock has gotten off to a slow start, but he could get it going in a positive direction against Jose Quintana. Pollock has hit well against lefties, slashing .368/.455/.526.
