Welcome to Sunday baseball! Things will get started bright and early at 1:05, as we typically see on any Sunday. We have a ton of games to decipher through and more than enough options at each position. We're without a game in Coors Field, however, and there's no chalky ash game pitcher. This slate is going to be full of unique lineups and there are a ton of different ways to go at every single position.
Let's dive in head first and breakdown the top play at each position. There will be some expensive bats, but also a few that will help you save some funds. The Red Sox and Astros are the top offenses and they'll make up for a lot of these picks. Let's dive in!
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 7/7/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
David Price - BOS @ DET - $9,800
There are some interesting pitching options here. On the high-end, Corbin and Bauer have the best match-ups. We’ll instead move down, however, and take a look at David Price. He’s been extremely consistent so far in 2019, sporting a 3.56 xFIP and a sub .291 wOBA against both sides of the plate. He’ll head into Comerica Park tonight, where balls lay out at the 26th highest rate. The Tigers tank 28th against lefties and strikeout 26% of the time. The Sox are -250 favorites, so you're getting a good shot at the win. Price is going to save you some money and makes sense in both cash games and tournaments.
Dallas Keuchel - ATL vs. MIA - $8,600
A lineup full of righties isn’t what you're typically looking for when considering a southpaw pitcher. Whit Keuchel, though, all bets are off. He’s a pitch to contact, ground-ball machine that relies on his sinker and changeup. They are both effective against righties and it’s why he’s allowed just a .306 wOBA to them over the past three seasons. This Marlins lineup is full of soft-hitting right-handed bats that are going to roll over all night on Keuchel. The Marlins rank dead last in baseball with a .271 wOBA and strikeout 27% of the time. They hold one of the lowest implied totals on the slate and Keuchel is discounted. He's a safe arm against this order.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
C - Christian Vasquez - BOS @ DET (Soto - L) - $4,700
The Red Sox are a team we’re going to be all over tonight. Greg Soto will be getting the start and the Sox implied run total is up over six runs. Soto is easily one of the worst pitchers in the game and Vegas expects the Red Sox to take advantage. We’ll dive in deeper in a bit. As for Christian Vasquez, he’s sported a .481 wOBA this month against lefties and doesn’t look to be slowing down. He’ll have plenty of RBI opportunities and gives you exposure to this caliber offense at one of the weaker positions.
1B - Justin Smoak - TOR vs. BAL (Wojciechowski - R) - $4,100
Justin Smoak hasn’t been the best version of himself lately, but his peripherals tell us nothing is different. Asher Wojciechowski has struggled throughout the minors and the Rays gave him troubles last time out, putting up four runs in five innings. This Blue Jays team is dangerous throughout and Smoak himself sits with a .371 wOBA vs righties. I don’t think he ends up very popular either with so many solid options to choose from.
2B - Jose Altuve - HOU vs. LAA (Suarez - L) - $3,900
I have no idea what DraftKings is doing with Jose Altuve, but his price will be locked into 100% of my teams until that’s changed. Especially facing off with a lefty that’s given up a ton of hard contact to opposing righties (41%). Altuve has shown that he’s ready to go, sporting seven hits across two games and jacking a homer. There’s no reason for him to be this cheap and I see Altuve as the easiest play of the night. Jose Suarez is an average to below average southpaw that's struggled already vs righties. You don't have to dig too deep at 2B.
3B - Yuli Gurriel - HOU vs. LAA (Suarez - L) - $5,500
We’ll stay right in Houston and shift our focus to the hottest hitter in baseball. Over the past four games, Gurriel has hit five home runs and hit safely another three times. He’s plastering everything he sees and shouldn’t have much trouble with Jose Suarez. He’s allowed a .366 wOBA to righties and Vegas thinks he stumbles big time with this lineup. Yuli Gurriel is another affordable Astro with a ton of upside. Don’t sleep on this Astros stack.
SS - Xander Bogaerts - BOS @ DET (Soto - L) - $5,000
Xander Bogaerts has a level of consistency they need in the middle of the lineup. An order full of free swingers, Bogaerts gives some balance and is able to work at-bats. Tonight he gets to face off with Gregory Soto. He’s given up a .407 wOBA to right-handers and wasn’t very impressive in the minors. There’s no reason to think he’s going to step up against the Boston Red Sox and quiet them. Expect the Sox to put up runs early and often, and for Bogaerts to be a big part of them. The full Red Sox stack can’t be argued against tonight.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Juan Soto - WAS vs. KC (Junis - R) - $5,200
On the expensive end of the outfield, you have countless options. Just on the surface, Mookie, JD, and Springer are three guys in exquisite positions. We’ll instead focus on Juan Soto, whose team we’ve ignored up to this point. The Nationals are facing off with Jakob Junis, which means a .345 wOBA to lefties and a low strikeout rate. This nationals lineup is full of danger and Soto is the biggest bat of all. He’s posted a .396 wOBA against righties on the season and has hit 13 of his 15 home runs against them. This Nationals lineup is dangerous throughout and the stack is more than in play.
Kyle Schwarber - CHC @ CWS (Nova - R) - $4,300
The Cubs are another team we haven’t touched on, but they’re more than in play against Ivan Nova. We know how bad Nova is, giving up a .388 wOBA to lefties and not being able to hold any runners. Schwarber will lead off for this gauntlet of a lineup and possesses a .374 wOBA against right-handers. He’s taken that wOBA from a .311 at the start of June and has posted a .413 since. This entire Cubs team is in play and Schwarber is just the most affordable of them all.
