DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/2/18): MLB DFS Lineups

Due to some later start times we've got a smaller, eight game slate this Sunday on DraftKings. There were also a few pitchers to have their starts moved, including Max Scherzer, Kyle Gibson, and Pablo Lopez. Because of this many games don't have totals in as of writing this.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/2/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ElliottBaasBB.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Lance Lynn, NYY (vs. DET): $8,800

Lynn gets a cupcake matchup at home against the Detroit Tigers. This season the Tigers have a .289 wOBA and 22.4% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. They also have a meager .137 ISO, meaning homers shouldn’t be an issue for Lynn. Lynn has turned his season around in New York, posting a 2.02 FIP and 4.22 K/BB ratio since coming to the Yankees.

David Hess, BAL (@ KC): $6,600

There is a dearth of quality talent in the lower tier of pitching today, a problem exacerbated by several starters getting either pushed back or scratched on today’s slate. That leaves us with Hess, who is the owner of some ugly stats this season. Hess is on a bit of a hot streak, posting a 1.42 ERA over his last five starts. The upside is low with just a 7.1 K/9 during that stretch, however he takes on a weak lineup in Kansas City and gets a positive park shift to Kaufmann Stadium.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

C - Gary Sanchez, NYY (vs. DET): $4,300

Matt Boyd is surviving by the skin off his teeth. He may have a 4.22 ERA, but that is made possible by a .259 BABIP and 8.6% HR/FB rate, both career lows. He has a 4.70 xFIP this season and a career 1.42 HR/9. This is a hittable pitcher that is moving into a more hitter-friendly park in Yankee Stadium and facing a lineup that collectively has the second highest wOBA against lefties at .341. That makes the Yankees an attractive stack, and it starts with Sanchez. Sanchez was just activated off the disabled list Saturday, and injured players usually offer a bit of a discount upon return on DraftKings. Despite his struggles Sanchez still has a .229 ISO and 14 homers in 279 PA.

1B - Luke Voit (1B), NYY (vs. DET): $3,800

Voit has supplanted Greg Bird as the Yankees’ first baseman against lefties and for good reason. Since coming to New York Voit is hitting .333 with four homers in 49 PA. Voit hit as high as fourth recently, and should hit either fourth or fifth today, making him an excellent value.

2B - Travis Shaw, MIL (@ WSH): $4,400

The Nationals’ pushed Max Scherzer’s start from Sunday to Monday, removing one of the top pitching options and replacing him with the subpar Jefry Rodriguez. Rodriguez has a 5.45 SIERA and utterly pathetic 1.3 K/BB ratio in 35.2 innings for Washington this season. He is lucky to have just a 4.54 ERA. Given his peripheral stats it should be north of five. That upgrades the Brewers from hands off to great plays today. Shaw has an .899 OPS and .291 ISO versus right-handed pitching this season and plays pretty much every day at second for the Crew.

3B - Mike Moustakas, MIL (@ WSH): $4,300

Moustakas and Shaw are quite similar, and since Shaw moved to second base we can play both of the power-hitting lefties. Moustakas has an .816 OPS and .239 ISO versus righties this season.

SS - Ronald Torreyes, NYY (vs. DET): $2,800

Torreyes plays only against lefties and is a good punt play at this price. He normally bats ninth so while he isn’t in a good spot for plate appearances, he’ll at least have the top of New York’s lineup behind him.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Christian Yelich, MIL (@ WSH): $5,900

Is anyone hotter than Christian Yelich right now? He is coming off an August where he posted a 1.030 OPS and .360 ISO as well as 11 homers. Lefty, righty, it doesn’t matter for Yelich. He’s an elite option today.

Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (vs. DET): $5,000

Stanton crushes lefties for a 1.096 OPS and .352 ISO. He is the centerpiece to any Yankees’ stack, especially against a weak lefty like Boyd. He's another high-priced outfielder worth paying up for today, but he is surprisingly cheap given the matchup.
