DraftKings Point Guards
Stephen Curry (at HOU, $9,900)
I’m not expecting Curry to drop another 40 points tonight, but did you see how magnificent he looked? I’m not talking about the stats, either. I’m talking about how silly he made everyone on the court look. He worked around the Pelicans with ease, hitting any type of shot he wanted, and he’s going to do that again tonight. Ty Lawson is anything but an elite defender, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rockets give PatBev a few extra minutes to try to slow Curry down. Still, Curry is a matchup proof point guard, and he can be used in all leagues.
C.J. McCollum (at PHO, $6,400)
McCollum was one of my breakout candidates this season, and I played him on Opening Night. Keep in mind, McCollum was a pure scorer in college, and he clearly has brought that touch to the NBA. This game should be extremely fast paced, and it looks like the Blazers have given the keys to the offense to their stud guards. McCollum’s price is still a bit low, and I don’t think last game was a fluke. He’s going to come out firing again tonight, and he should be used in all leagues.
DraftKings Shooting Guards
Kobe Bryant (at SAC, $6,800)
It seems as if people have forgotten that Kobe Bryant loves shooting the ball. His price is extremely low, and he was fairly low owned on Wednesday night. Bryant played 28 minutes and took a ridiculous 24 shots, including 13 three pointers. He also has the ability to contribute in all five categories, although he may not have his old shot blocking ability. Still, his price is low, his usage is high, and he absolutely loves shooting the ball. It looks like the perfect recipe for success to me.
Alec Burks (at PHI, $4,800)
Burks was recently shifted to the Jazz bench to make room for Rodney Hood to start, but that didn’t particularly change his minutes. He played 26 minutes, and scored 18 points with six rebounds, but he may have played a bit more if he hadn’t picked up four fouls. Burks gets one of the easiest matchups of the night against the Sixers, who fail to cover anyone. Burks has loads of upside, as he displayed last season before being injured. He shouldn’t be trusted in cash games just yet, but he’s a great tournament option for his low price tag.
DraftKings Small Forwards
Danilo Gallinari (vs MIN, $6,300)
Gallinari seems to be a bit of a forgotten man in Denver. By that, I mean he never really gets the respect he deserves in terms of fantasy. He’s coming off a monster 47 fantasy point game, and his price is still extremely low. He also scored fantasy points at an extremely high rate last season when Wilson Chandler was injured. Chandler will likely miss this game, as well, and the Nuggets have made it clear they want to run at least a portion of their offense through Gallinari. He has great upside, but he’s also one of the safer options on the board in what should be a high scoring, fast paced game.
Rodney Hood (at PHI, $3,900)
The Sixers have an awful overall defense, but they are arguably the worst team in the NBA at closing out on the perimeter. That’s great news for Hood, who is a lights out three-point shooter. He was recently moved into the Jazz starting rotation, which helps his value a bit. He’s coming off a good game, but it wasn’t anything special. He likely isn’t going to score 40+ FPs, but he does have upside with his three-point shot and low price tag. He can be used in all leagues for his price.
DraftKings Power Forwards
Greg Monroe (vs WAS, $7,700)
Monroe has always been a better player at center, which is the position he’s playing this season. He’s coming off a 55 fantasy point performance, in which he recorded 22 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. He gets another decent matchup against the Wizards tonight, and it’s going to be tough for any center in the NBA to cover him. Monroe is also a double-double machine, which means he will score a few extra points for that on DraftKings. He’s one of the safest options on the slate, but he also has loads of upside.
Nikola Mirotic (at DET, $6,600)
It’s tough to go away from Mirotic when he’s listed at this price, especially after he has flashed great upside early in the season. He has displayed a sweet stroke from downtown, but he has also rebounded the ball well. He hasn’t flashed his passing upside, though, which means there is more potential than what has leaked through so far this year. Mirotic gets a good matchup against the Pistons, who aren’t a great defense against opposing big men. He has shown a good floor, but he has not quite flashed his ceiling yet this year. He can be used in all leagues.
DraftKings Centers
Rudy Gobert (at PHI, $7,200)
Gobert didn’t look great in his first game, but I’m going back to the well tonight. Everyone knows that the Sixers have trouble rebounding the ball, and Gobert is one of the best rebounders in the NBA. He’s nearly certain to record 10+ rebounds tonight, but his scoring is a bit more up in the air. He didn’t double double last game, which was a bit surprising, but this is a much better matchup tonight. He’s going to continuously get better as a player, and he makes a good tournament option tonight.
