Now that none of any of us reading this won $1.5 billion, it’s time to take our chances back on DraftKings and NBA DFS play. With a whole new day upon us, the slate looks rather nice for Thursday night. Usually we are dealing with three or four games, but Thursday night is loaded with a juicy buffet of six games. Let’s get our heads off of silly Powerball tickets and back in the game (sulking in the corner, crying over 25 losing tickets.)

In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for DraftKings for 1/14/16. The DFS picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays.

DraftKings DFS Point Guards

Stephen Curry (vs LAL, $10,600)

Beware the blowout/rest factor.

Reggie Jackson (at MEM, $7,100)

Jackson’s last game against San Antonio was amongst his worst shooting nights on the season, but it was San Antonio and Tony Parker was electric on Tuesday. Given the circumstances, we’re willing to give him a pass for his shortcomings on Tuesday. Until that game, Jackson had gone 24-for-44 over his previous three while averaging seven assists per game during that span. The Grizzlies are all sorts of banged up right now, leading to a ton of exploitation opportunity.

Trey Burke (vs SAC, $4,900)

Forget Sacramento’s breakneck pace. Forget Sacramento’s 28th-ranked defense against the point guard. Even forget all the injuries to Utah right now that will press Burke into more service on the floor. The man has a 29.4% usage rate on zero days rest in just over 23 minutes per game. Sacramento’s high-paced tempo is a great equalizer against the boring slow Utah Jazz.

 

DraftKings DFS Shooting Guards

Jimmy Butler (at PHI, $8,800)

Stud. Absolute stud. And he will be teeing off against the lowly Sixers. Buyer beware, however. Butler is dealing with a minor ankle sprain that may limit his minutes or even put his starting position in jeopardy.

Rodney Hood (at SAC, $5,900)

Don’t look now but Hood is heating up NBA Jam style. The second year player out of Duke is beginning to find his three point stroke again. In seven games since December 31, Hood has gone 20-for-38 from behind the arc while dropping double digit points in 10 of his last 12. The Kings have given up the most points to the opposing two guard over the last 10 games and there is seemingly no end in sight.

 

DraftKings DFS Small Forwards

Harrison Barnes (vs LAL, $5,400)

Since we’re paying up for Steph, let’s try to find some extra value down the line. The three and the four look to be the most forgiving spots on the slate. Barnes looks completely healthy now and is averaging 25.375 DraftKings points over his last two games. Kobe Bryant has been playing the swing a lot this season and if the Mamba doesn’t go, then Anthony Brown will most likely get the start. Advantage: Barnes.

Tony Snell (at PHI, $3,700)

It always seems like we want to go Bob Barker and roster lower-priced players against the Sixers. The price is surely right for Snell right now. Derrick Rose continues to deal with ailments, Butler may see a minutes restriction and Joakim Noah is in the doghouse. All this means that the Bulls will need someone to shoulder the load Thursday night. Although he is averaging around 22 minutes per game, he is primed and poised to get some nice playing time. If you believe in the minutes, throw Snell in a GPP.

 

DraftKings DFS Power Forwards

DeMarcus Cousins (vs UTA, $10,300)

Boogie is on some kind of roll right now, averaging 59.8 DraftKings points per game over his last five. No chance Rudy Gobert, Trevor Booker or an ailing Derrick Favors are going to slow down DMC.

Larry Nance, Jr. (at GS, $4,900)

This is a classic example of a coach forcing a player down fantasy owners’ collective throats. Nance is playing high minutes right now compared to his actual value, but we honestly cannot ignore that major fact. He is already shown he is capable of at least competing with NBA talent. With Draymond Green (most likely) out Thursday night due to rest, I like Nance to hit his ceiling.

Bobby Portis (at PHI, $4,100)

Chicago’s frontcourt is going to get a heavy dose of Taj Gibson and Bobby Portis, as fantasy stud Pau Gasol will sit to most likely grab some extra rest. Portis figures to be the biggest beneficiary against a Sixers frontcourt that gives up the most fantasy points to opposing big men.

 

DraftKings DFS Centers

Jahlil Okafor (vs CHI, $6,100)

Okafor remains the most consistent scorer for the Sixers and with no true starter available on the Bulls to slow him down, he is as reliable as they come at the center position. Chicago has been outrebounded heavily on the season, so this is a spot where Okafor can really separate himself from some of the other centers. At 7.8 boards per game on the season, there is only upside for the rookie.
