DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (2/1/20): NBA DFS Lineups

With Luka Doncic already listed as out for this game versus the Hawks, look for Kristaps Porzingis and Trae Young to run away with the production. The only problem with rostering Young tonight is that his price is just $100 above Damian Lillard, and over the past two weeks, there has been no one better in terms of fantasy production.

If you are concerned about how well Lillard plays against the Jazz and their defense, don't be. Two years ago Lillard struggled against the Jazz defense, but he's slowly figuring them out and the past two contests they've played each other, Lillard has scored at least 30. The more the Utah defense can limit the rest of the Trail Blazers, the more upside Lillard has, even after last night's performance.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 2/1/20. You can also check out today's FanDuel lineup picks. Remember to monitor injury news as the slate can completely change before line-up lock.

DraftKings DFS Guards

Jeff Teague - PG/SG, @ DAL ($3,800)

Since the Maverick tend to hold point guards who can't create on their own, it shouldn't be the case for someone like Jeff Teague. His price is awesomely low and there is no reason for is to stop going down until he has a signature game. His role in the offense is suspect seeing how few minutes he gets on a regular basis, and it hurts he won'y really play or produce in blowouts, but luckily, that is why I am going with Teague tonight. I expect the Mavericks to need some type of output from Teague and this game to stay close because of it. The forwards in this game struggle at consistent defense so even though shots will be blocked, rims will remain un-protected.

Bryn Forbes - PG/SG, vs. CHA ($3,200)

It's going to be really hard not to hammer this pick in as the first thing I do when I start making my lineups. The Hornets guards have been borderline pathetic all season, not to mention Charlotte as a whole needs help on defense. When you have guards who struggle to defend and a frontcourt that isn't the best at keeping opposing bigs from controlling the paint, you have to target them for DFS heavily. The only problem with this is that it's the Spurs. The one team where consistent production is the name of the game, just not from the players. Look for DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge to carry the workload with the core of guards getting more than enough opportunities.

Garrett Temple - PG/SG, vs WAS ($3,400)

You might not consider this a revenge game, but I do. The one downside about playing anyone against really bad teams like this is that you never know if the coaches will resort to the bench quickly, most of the time hurting the value you played, or creating value you never even knew was an option. Against the Wizards, Temple tends to play well and absolutely treats this like it is an emotionally charged game for him. Sinec Kyrie Irving went off for 54 last night, there's a chance he will look to repeat, cool off, or he might even rest since Brooklyn is playing the Wizards. Either way, the upside is there for Temple since his price is so low.

DraftKings DFS Forwards

Aaron Gordon - SF/PF, vs MIA ($5,900)

Ever since Jonathan Isaac went down for the season, the Magic have gone from a contender back to the Magic we hate and ignore. It's unfortunate that so many high-tier players go to waste, but this is a great chance for us to force some value out of the Orlando players. They are on a four-game losing streak and while it doesn't look like that will end Saturday, Gordon continues to have upside for as long as he is starting and getting those minutes. He wasn't able to really hit his shot last game, which just happened to be against the Heat, so expect an immediate turnaround.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - SG/SF, @ SAC ($3,600)

Just a generic value pick here from one of the more untrustworthy candidates. There isn't much to be said here or about Kentavious Caldwell-Pope or his upside, other than last game between these two, it was the first time he scored over 15 points and started a fairly significant scoring streak. That won't always be the case when he plays the Kings, but if he was able to score against them the first time in a close game, I like his chances this time around.

Bobby Portis - PF/C, @ IND ($3,700)

Another fairly generic pick here, but this comes from the idea that the Knicks are actively trying to trade Bobby Portis, and they want to showcase him against anyone they can. This might not be the best opponent with how well Domantas Sabonis is playing and considering the Pacers overall talent, but Portis has created this image that he can have big games against anyone. They just come out of nowhere similar to a Randy Orton RKO.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Willie Cauley-Stein - C, vs ATL ($3,500)

There isn't a whole lot of confidence in this pick and convincing you of such would probably hurt my already hurting credibility. The important aspect here is that Willie Cauley-Stein is already filing the stat sheet, albeit modestly, he is still showing how well he can mesh with any team. He is fighting for minutes and it will continue, but if Luka Doncic misses time, it's his chance to assume a larger role in the frontcourt. He might not have the playmaking of Porzingis or the shooting of Maxi Kleber, but he can be a menace in the paint while they use their size to isolate their matchups. Cauley-Stein might not be the exact replacement Dwight Powell was, but Cauley-Stein has a chance to be a more productive version.
