Worth the DraftKings Investment
Elfrid Payton (G, ORD) - $7,800
Between injuries, suspensions and rest it is becoming harder and harder to find good DFS NBA plays on a nightly basis. That is why Payton tops tonight list, he is a young point guard on a team who is assuredly going to give him big minutes. Prior to his last game Payton had not scored fewer than 30 fantasy points and during that time mixed in five games over 40 fantasy points. Having seen over 35 minutes in the last 10 games means Payton is as safe as anyone will be tonight against the subpar defense of Goran Dragic.
Anthony Davis (F, NO) - $11,000
With the playoffs in sight, Davis is one of the few true superstars who is a lock to play big minutes and likely put up a nice stat line. Despite battling a few random injuries recently, Davis has scored over 40 fantasy points in nine of 10 games while going over 50 in half of them. Even last time out in just 23 minutes Davis put up a solid 40.25 fantasy points with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Needing a win, at home, and playing the Timberwolves mess of a frontline makes Davis the clear cut top play of the day.
Enes Kanter (C, OKC) - $7,800
If, and it’s a big if at this point, Russell Westbrook is suspended for tonight Kanter will be called upon to carry the Thunder to a win. The Thunder are currently tied with the Pelicans but without the tiebreaker there is no room for a loss. Kanter has been a bit inconsistent recently with some poor games like the one against San Antonio where he had just 9 points and 5 rebounds, but he also has had three games over 43 fantasy points in the last five outings. Robin Lopez is a plus defender but Oklahoma City is in win now mode and potentially without their top scorer. This makes Kanter a prime target to have a gigantic fantasy night.
DraftKings Sleepers & Value Picks
Jason Thompson (F, SAC) - $4,400
The absence of DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay has opened up a ton of frontcourt time for Thompson, Omri Casspi and Derrick Williams. Williams is the cheapest of the trio, however it is Thompson who has back to back 30 plus fantasy point outings. Those are especially nice considering they were on the road against Utah and Oklahoma City. Tonight the matchup is much better as the Kings take on the Lakers in Sacramento. Over the last two games Thompson has combined for 17 points, 25 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks, if he can keep those averages up tonight he could certainly push for 10x value.
C.J. McCollum (G, POR) - $4,500
First it was Wes Matthews and now it is Aaron Afflalo who went down with an injury last week. That has opened up a ton of playing time for the young McCollum at the shooting guard position. He has responded in a big way with four straight games over 20 fantasy points and is coming off a game in which he had an amazing 46 fantasy points against the stellar defense of Utah. Despite a giant jump in price, McCollum is still a near must-own against a Thunder team that likes to run and is poor against opposing shooting guards. Lock and load McCollum in both cash and GPP’s tonight.
