Worth the DraftKings Investment
Joe Johnson (BKN, G) - $7,200
The former Atlanta star has upped his game a level against his former employer thus far. In the three games, Johnson has averaged 17.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.7 rebounds per game to go along with five steals. Perhaps the most encouraging news for fantasy players is his remarkable 41 minutes-per-game, which is the highest on the team thus far. Despite neither team hitting 100 points yet in the series, it has been Johnson who has been the player best able to return value on his salary and has proven to be a near must-play for his salary. With Deron Williams less than 100%, Johnson is often forced into being the Nets' play-maker, which is only good news for his fantasy game.
Jimmy Butler (CHI, G) - $8,300
Jimmy Minutes, as he is now known, is certainly living up to that moniker in this series with 140 minutes played in just three games. In Game 1, Butler scored a playoff career high 31 points but quickly followed that up with a new high of 33 points in Game 3. Not only has he been scoring at a high clip, but Butler has also put in averages of 6.3 rebounds, two assists, two steals and 1.3 blocks. Although his name might not be as well-known as teammates Derrick Rose or Pau Gasol, he has been producing at an equal level while also being lower priced in some occasions.
Marc Gasol (MEM, C) - $8,400
Center could be the deepest position of the night with the likes of Al Horford, Brook Lopez and Joakim Noah all available as viable options. However, the consistency of Gasol will make him the pick, as he has averaged 18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.0 blocks per night. It is a bit of a stretch to say Gasol would run the offense if Mike Conley were to be out, however he is certainly the Grizzlies best play-maker without him, as evidenced by his 5.3 assists per game out of the center position. Along with his minutes going up from 33.2 to 37.7 in the playoffs, Gasol has seen a solid boost in production. Despite a high price tag, it is a virtual lock for 30 fantasy points with upside for 50.
DraftKings Sleepers & Value Picks
Courtney Lee/Jarrett Jack - $4,400/$5,100
Both of these players are in a similar circumstance tonight with the top point guards on their team questionable with injuries. Lee is the more consistent of the two as he has played over 29 minutes in all three games this series while increasing his scoring output from 9 to 18 and finally 20 in their last game. Of the two players, he has the higher fantasy floor, as his minutes are locked in and could go up if Mike Conley and Beno Udrih are out. Jack on the other hand certainly has a higher ceiling but his role has been a bit erratic with Deron Williams in the lineup. He went from 16 minutes in Game 1 to 29 in Game 2 and responded with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. However, in 27 minutes in Game 3 Jack only was able to score 5 points while only getting three shots. Word out of Brooklyn is that Deron Williams injury is not good, which means Jack could be in line for more minutes tonight. That would certainly help his value. Lee makes the better cash game play, where Jack makes a better GPP option.
