BALLER MOVE: Add in all leagues
OWNED IN: 54% of Fleaflicker leagues
ANALYSIS: I doubt many people expected much from Drew Pomeranz entering the season, but he's been found money so far. Pomeranz is rocking a 2.12 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 41K in 34 IP. No that's not a typo. The former first-rounder is really digging his new home in San Diego. His repertoire features a looping knuckle-curveball that seems to have the leagues' hitters off-balance at the moment. Combined with a low-90's cutter and a fastball he can ramp up to 96 mph, Pomeranz has all the tools necessary to keep succeeding.
The main knock on him this season is that he is not the most economical pitcher on the mound. In his last outing against the Mets he only tossed five innings because his pitch count was up to 98 pitches. It's an issue he's always had, but he's improved there as well. In his previous start he went toe-to-toe with Clayton Kershaw and logged seven innings. He's still widely available and should be added everywhere.
