The New York Mets activated Lucas Duda from the DL on Monday, according to ESPN.com. The first baseman did not play on Monday as he will be eased back in the lineup while he returns from a herniated disc in his back.
The first start since being out of action since Aug. 22 could be Tuesday for the slugging lefty. Right-hander Jordan Zimmermann will be on the hill for the Washington Nationals on Tuesday against New York, which means Duda will likely start at first base for the Mets.
Duda has a .247 BA this season with 21 HR and 56 RBI over 113 games this season. He’s had plenty of struggles this season while having a few hot streaks with a lot of power. Now that he’s healthy again, the Mets are hopeful that Duda could show the power he had at times this year.
In a rehab game with Double-A Binghamton, Duda went 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI with no setbacks.
