Dwayne Haskins (QB, WAS) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues

OWNED IN: 3% of Leagues

ANALYSISIt took time, but Dwayne Haskins seems to be finally heating up. And the flames might be coming at the perfect time for those still battling for the fantasy football chip. Haskins just completed the second multi-touchdown game of his career against Philadelphia on Sunday, passing for 261 yards and two scores without being intercepted, and adding 26 extra yards on the ground. Although he only attempted 28 passes he completed 19 of them (67.9%) and his yards per attempt were all the way up to 9.3.

Haskins is not going to win you the league. You should keep that very clear in your mind. But he can be of help for those of you playing in super deep/2QB leagues and in the need of a secondary option. Other than this last game and the one in Week 11, Haskins hasn’t been good at all. You need to believe he will be playing at his best next weekend, but he’s shown he can do it. In his best two games, Haskins threw for two touchdowns in each and at least for 214 yards on 19 completions each time.

Truth be told, Haskins is a 10-point floor quarterback with upside to reach the mid-20s. The good news, though, is that Washington faces the Giants next weekend. New York has the 25th-best defense against QBs, so Haskins might be in for a good game. WR Terry McLaurin is in a two-game streak of scoring and has finished those matches with 57 and 130 yards. That bodes well for Haskins. I wouldn’t advise adding the rookie quarterback in any sallow/average-sized league, but if you think you will need a boom/bust play this weekend to win the championship in a deeper/2QB league, then consider Haskins a potential 25-FP getter. Again: the risk is high (perhaps too much), but the reward could be too.
