BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 32% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Cardinals have finally restarted their season this weekend after multiple positive Covid-19 tests. Having only played five games before they were shut down, the Cardinals now have 14-15 games to make up on most of the league. So it was great seeing rookie Dylan Carlson get the start in left field and bat sixth for the Cardinals in their first game back. Ranked as the club's no.1 prospect and 18th in all of baseball (according to MLB Pipeline), Carlson should be an impact bat straight away and with so many games to catch up on, he should feature every day going forward, even if he sits out one game of the doubleheaders.
What can you expect from Carlson if you pick him up? Well, if we take a look at last years' minor league numbers, you'll see he had 26 homers and 20 steals in 126 games across the Double-A and Triple-A levels and put together a .292/.372/.542 slash line. He's a switch hitter so isn't susceptible to a platoon upon call-up either. There's no guarantee he'll be afforded the same opportunities for steals in the Majors (and he was caught stealing eight times last season) but if he can replicate something close to his Minor League numbers from last year, Carlson will be a top-50 outfielder and should be rostered in all leagues.
