Edwin Diaz (RP, SEA): Closers and Saves Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 35% of Fleaflicker Leagues

ANALYSIS: Edwin Diaz is replacing Steve Cishek as the closer for the Seattle Mariners and should be added in every league that counts saves, regardless of size or format. You can see our full MLB closers & saves depth charts updated here.

Diaz has been fantastic since being called up to the big leagues as he's notched an impressive 1.80 ERA, 1.85 FIP, 1.35 xFIP, and a 1.28 WHIP to go with an amazing 17.64 K/9 across 25 innings pitched. The most impressive thing about those stats is that Edwin has somehow posted them despite also having an extremely unlucky .458 BABIP allowed. Once that corrects the numbers should be even better.

Not only do I expect Diaz to be a valuable closer down the stretch, but he may emerge as one of the top options in the fake game as he manages to pair elite ratios with an eye-popping strikeout rate. Still available in 65% of leagues, you should add Diaz immediately if he's floating around in your league's free agent pool. Get to the waiver wire and make it happen.
