BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 14% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It is odd to look to roster a player with only 26 touches for the season, but here we are at the end of the season and New York Jets running back Elijah McGuire may be your man. McGuire may have only had six carries on Sunday against New England, but that did tie Isaiah Crowell for the most on the team. With Josh McCown throwing the ball 45 times, and the Jets still waiting on Sam Darnold to return, a gameplan focused on the pass may make McGuire the man to own in New York's backfield.
A second-year pro out of University of Louisiana, McGuire only has 131 career touches and more fumbles (two) than touchdowns (one). However, he has averaged 10.3 yards per catch on his 24 career catches and had three catches in each of his first two games of the 2018 season. It appears that, at a minimum, the Jets are going to split the work between Crowell and McGuire and, with the enhanced value that McGuire brings in the passing game, it may be that McGuire is the more valuable back for the Gang Green.
If you get McGuire this week, it may be best to keep him on the bench in Week 13, as the Jets play the Titans' 4th-ranked defense against RB. A stronger matchup against the Bills' 24th-ranked defense against RB follows before the Jets have suboptimal matchups with the Texans and Packers. Either way, McGuire is an explosive player with a good matchup in Week 14, making him a good addition in most leagues.
