ANALYSIS: Gang Green's backfield is falling apart. Matt Forte missed his second straight game with turf toe and Bilal Powell strained his calf in the Week 5 win. McGuire didn't do much to set himself apart after Powell left the game (11 carries, 20 yards), but apparently it was enough. On the season, he's averaging a healthy 5.2 yards per carry on 34 rushes.
The 23-year-old rookie out of Louisiana is expected to receive a "heavy workload" this weekend against New England, regardless of whether Powell makes it back. For what it's worth, Jets beat reporters don't see Powell playing in Week 6. If Forte can't make it back, either, McGuire will have the lion's share of the work and could be a low-end RB2/flex play.
