Ellsbury Out At Least Another 3-4 Weeks

Jacoby Ellsbury won’t be back for another 3-4 weeks, as New York Yankees general manager, Brian Cashman, revealed the news to MLB.com Tuesday.

The Yanks outfielder injured his knee on May 19. Ellsbury has already missed two weeks from the right knee sprain. He has yet to resume baseball activities and it is unclear when he will be cleared to do so.

The center fielder was New York’s most consistent hitter in the lineup with a .324 BA and 783 OPS. His power numbers aren’t quite there with just one homer and 16 RBI. Ellsbury does have 14 SB however which was close to the MLB lead when he was injured..

Chris Young will likely continue to see most of the action in Ellsbury’s absence, although he has one hit in 24 at-bats since Ellsbury went down.

The 27-25 Yankees have continued to find ways to stay above .500 and in contention for the AL East crown. It won’t help the team to know it could be another month with their star centerfielder.
