Emilio Bonifacio (2B, OF, KC) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Continue Scouting

ANALYSIS: Emilio Bonifacio has not offered mixed-leaguers much production, but all of that could change soon. He is no longer a Blue Jay, as he has been acquired by the Royals. The speedster has hit for a measly average (.218) while failing to steal bases at respectable clip (1 SB for every 21.8 AB). However, there is a chance that a change of scenery could do the trick. Roto-league owners, especially, should keep tabs on a guy who has stolen 70 bases in the last two seasons combined. His second-base eligibility also warrants a "speculative add" in most deep leagues. There are still doubts with Bonifacio, as he could remain a utility player, albeit one playing for a better team. One thing working in Bonifacio's favor here is that Royals starting second baseman Miguel Tejada has been placed on the 60-day D.L. Also, the Royals offensive approach is a lot more "run-friendly" than that of the Blue Jays, so there are at least two reasons for Bonifacio owners to feel optimistic.
