Emmanuel Sanders (WR, BUF) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 22% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: After logging a very healthy 8 targets in Week 1 but only catching 4 of them, fantasy GMs out there blasted Emmanuel Sanders and the Bills as a whole. Now, one week later, and after another game in which he logged 6 targets but could only catch 2 of those, the consensus is that Sanders is back on track to good performances and makes for a great WW target? Sorry, but I don't get you, folks.

Sanders was good in W1, and he was good in W2. I know, I know. The PPR tallies read a paltry 9.2 and 6.8 fantasy points respectively, which is definitely far from great (Sanders has finished WR65 and WR63 in those two slates). But it's not that Josh Allen has forgotten about tossing him the rock. Sanders's 14 targets through two games are tied for the 19th-most among receivers who have played <85% of their teams' snaps. The 100 receiving yards combined are not good so far, but Sanders will get there. Don't panic.

The 6-of-14 in receptions is just an outlier in Sander's last three years of play as he posted a 71%+ catch rate on average and finished above 72% in two of those three years. He's currently catching just 42% of his targets, which I refuse to believe is going to be his season-long level. Stefon Diggs is obviously going to be the top-dog of the offense, and Cole Beasley is a fantastic safety valve. But Sanders is the only other receiver (no, not buying Gabriel Davis over here) with a high ceiling in this squad so he should start positively regressing to his career-long mean sooner than later, which means an average nearing the 11-to-13 FPPG weekly. Nothing to call home about, but surely enough for a nice WR3/FLEX play in deeper leagues.
