Erasmo Ramirez (SP/RP, TB) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 39% Fleaflicker

ANALYSIS: Erasmo Ramirez has primarily been a starter since breaking into the big leagues with Seattle in 2012. He was slotted to be the fifth starter for Tampa Bay, but some funky scheduling early on led the Rays to skip his start. The bullpen role has suited him nicely so far and it appears Ramirez will be sticking there for the time being.

Despite only starting one game, Ramirez has found a way to earn four victories to accompany his two holds. The win rate is probably not sustainable, but his 1.23 ERA and 0.68 WHIP are still noteworthy. Ramirez is not a strikeout machine (7.0 K/9) and a .214 BABIP against him suggest there may be some adjustments coming soon to those ratios. Still, Ramirez should soon qualify at RP in a majority of fantasy formats which provides some positional flexibility and a slight boost across multiple categories. A move back to the rotation could increase his value even more. For the time being he is worth owning in deep leagues with eight or more pitching slots to fill on a daily basis.
