According to Kansas City Royals beat writer Jeffrey Flanagan, the Royals and first baseman Eric Hosmer have agreed to a two-year deal worth $13.9 million, avoiding arbitration.

Eric Hosmer will qualify for free agency in 2018 so he will have one more arbitration eligible year remaining following this contract.
Hosmer, 25, has been with the Royals for his four-year career and finished the 2014 season with a .270/.318/.398 line while hitting just nine home runs and driving in 58, a significant step down from his 17 home runs in 2013. The two-time Gold Glove winner did emerge with the bat in his first taste of postseason baseball as the Royals fell short in the World Series. In the postseason, Hosmer hit .351/.439/.544 with two home runs and 12 runs batted in.
