Ervin Santana pitched another gem on Sunday when he allowed one run over seven innings for the big 7-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Sunday marked the sixth straight start that the Minnesota Twins starting pitcher had a quality start where he allowed two or less runs in each. Santana scattered six hits with two walks while striking out five for the victory. The right-hander is now 7-4 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and a 79/33 K/BB ratio over 101 innings this season.
Santana will pitch against the Kansas City Royals for his final start of the regular season. The hope if that the Twins will find a way to sneak into the postseason now that they trail the Houston Astros by 1 1/2 games with seven games to go.
Minnesota will go on the road Monday against the Cleveland Indians for the start of a four-game series before it closes the season out at home against the Royals.
