Hello, RotoBallers! After a short two weeks off, DFS soccer on FanDuel returned to our lives Friday and Saturday and will continue to be available for DFS for about a month! If you're unfamiliar, this is a soccer tournament amongst European nations that takes place every four years (opposite the World Cup). Countries have been qualifying over the last several years, but now we're down to the last 24 that are split into groups of four. They play a round-robin schedule to determine who advances to the knockout stage. The tournament will go on for about a month giving us some great DFS soccer to tide us over until the club season begins again. I have a full breakdown for you covering this slate. The large majority of my DFS content will be covering the EURO 2020 tournament until the EPL returns in August, however, there is always more soccer DFS to cover. UCL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview
England vs Croatia
This will be the premier matchup of the day. England are widely considered to be among the favorites to win this tournament, and Croatia is coming off a runner-up finish at the 2018 World Cup. Both teams are expected to advance past the group stage. England are the favorites here and will likely garner some high ownership. The goal total over/under is 2, 2.5.
Austria vs North Macedonia
This is the first time ever that North Macedonia has qualified for any international competition. It's quite the accomplishment for them to get here, but they are the team with the longest odds to win the trophy. Austria (-160) should be able to handle them in this game and will make for some decent GPP exposure off of the early game. The goal total over/under is 2, 2.5 with the under -125.
The Netherlands vs Ukraine
Group C is relatively weak, and all four teams will be confident that they can advance to the next round. On paper, The Netherlands (-160) are probably the most talented, but they have struggled big time internationally over the last 5-6 years and did not look impressive leading up to the tournament. Ukraine should not be taken lightly though, and this game will likely be fairly even. The goal total over/under is 2, 2.5 with the over and under both at -105.
FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders
Harry Kane ($23) will likely be the chalk top-tier attacker on the slate. He led the EPL this season in both goals and assists, and he'll lead England as the main striker up top. He gets plenty of shots on goal and has the highest anytime scoring odds in this game at +135. The only thing that should keep you from playing Kane is the price tag.
I don't feel the need to jam in an additional English attacker on this slate to pair with Kane, however, Mason Mount ($17) is a nice one-off play to get some England exposure without Kane. He had a stellar club season leading Chelsea to a Champions League title. He'll be one of the main creators for this powerful English attacking group. He has a strong floor with his defensive and attacking peripherals, and he has good goal (+400) and assist (+250) upside.
Marko Arnautovic ($18) will lead the lines for Austria as they take on North Macedonia. His plus +190 anytime goal odds are good, but I'm much more inclined to take some savings and roster someone like Marcel Sabitzer ($15) or Christoph Baumgartner ($13) on this slate. Baumgartner's six goals and five assists this year in the Bundesliga aren't that impressive on the surface, but when you consider how bad Hoffenheim was this year, 11 goal contributions is a good number.
Another striker to consider on this slate is Roman Yaremchuk ($15) against a leaky Netherlands defense. Oleksandr Zinchenko ($12) is a solid value play for the Ukrainians.
If you want to keep riding along with North Macedonia's crazy run, Goran Pandev ($16) is the captain and main attacker for the team.
FanDuel DFS Defenders
Luke Shaw ($15) was an amazing wingback fantasy-wise and on the field for Manchester United this season. His ability to create chances is world-class which also means that his assist upside is great. He will have a similar role on this England team. He has one of the best floor/ceiling combinations on the slate at this position.
Another English back - John Stones ($10) - is a solid play on this slate as well. He is pretty affordable and a few peripheral stats should help him be of value. Stones has some goal upside in this game for GPPs, and a clean sheet bonus is also possible which makes him more appealing.
Andreas Ulmer ($10) and Martin Hinteregger ($12) are two mid-tier defenders to consider on the slate with Daley Blind ($7) and Duje Caleta-Car ($7) providing some value as deep punts.
FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers
North Macedonia could struggle to score against better competition, and Austria are large favorites in this game which puts Daniel Bachmann ($13) right into my player pool. He can be a little bit risky if he concedes because it is unlikely that he finishes with many saves to boost his floor.
It could be a conflicting day for the Never Pickford crowd as the English GK sits in a decent spot and is very affordable. Jordan Pickford ($11) will take the net first for England as they take on Croatia. England has a strong backline, but the Croatians are still a good team. I think England wins this game and Pickford makes a good number of saves which both boost his floor. The risk is Pickford conceding a goal, but I still think he'd be worth the play at this price.
Georgi Bushchan ($8) is my high-risk, high-reward GK on the slate. The Netherlands have not been very good internationally and Ukraine can definitely win this game and keep a shutout. Bushchan's ceiling is way too high for this price.
