DFS Sleeper Picks for 7/25: Advice & Expert Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings

DFS Deep Sleepers! Starting Pitcher Picks For 7/25

Are you just sick and tired of seeing your seasonal fantasy baseball team at the bottom of the standings? Can’t seem to make up ground even though you watch the games every night, and are very active on your league’s waiver wire (and even downloaded RotoBaller's FREE iPhone waiver wire app)? Have no fear, we have the perfect solution for you fellow RotoBallers and fantasy baseball freaks.

Enter daily league fantasy baseball, where you can use your accrued knowledge of fantasy baseball to compete each and every night from scratch with a new roster. Just draft your roster (slightly different style on all three of our favorite sites) using a salary cap based system, and sit back and enjoy the games for that night! With these types of leagues, you can leave the hopelessness of your seasonal fantasy formats aside, and focus on the next three months of fantasy baseball action.

Editors Note: If you want an even greater edge over your FanDuel and DraftKings competitors, check out RotoBaller’s highly effective Expert Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks Newsletter. In this simple-to-use cheat sheet format, we provide you a minimum of 20 daily league player recommendations (usually closer to 25 players), three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday) throughout the fantasy baseball season.

Alright fellow RotoBallers, without further ado, let’s get right to the pork and beans (DFS sleepers) for July 25th 2014:

FanDuel Lineup Recommendation for 7/25

Wade_Miley_2013Wade Miley $7,400 - In one pitcher DFS formats like FanDuel, it's ok to seek out a sleeper (or contrarian) starting pitcher matchup that may not be obvious to everyone else, but it's imperative that you don't get too cute and go with the riskier options that have a huge blowup potential, to go along with their hyped upside. Ultimately, on a night like tonight were most DFS players are going to trot our either Felix Hernandez or David Price, fading Wade Miley gives you the ability to separate from the pack, save about 3-4K, and still use an effective starter in a tournament or cash game.

Oh, and in case ya'll aren't paying attention, the highly undervalued Miley has been hot posting a 10+ point performance on Fanduel in 8 of his last 10 starts. In fact, in 5 of those 10 outings, he put up 15 or more Fanduel points. Couple those stats with the fact that he has dominated the Phillies in 12 innings pitched (2 starts) by putting them in their place with a 2.25 ERA, 9 strikeouts and 1 win. Trust us, if you need a fantasy baseball sleeper starting pitcher for tonight's Fanduel action, this Diamondback is surely your man.

DraftKings Starting Pitcher Recommendation for 7/25

fantasy-baseball-advice-tim-lincecum-mlb-news-sf-giantsTim Lincecum $8,500 - Facing his favorite in-division opponents (the Dodgers), at his friendly home confines tonight, the newly rejuvenated "Freak" has been piling up gaudy fantasy numbers in all formats over the past 10 starts. In that sample size, opponents are batting an anemic .150, while he has a 2.09 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 5 Wins to go along with his recent repeat no-hitter of the quad-A San Diego Padres. If that isn't enough to convince you, please note that he's averaged 18.9 FPPG on DraftKings and has dominated the Dodgers throughout his career to a 2.88 ERA over 147 innings pitched.

We strongly recommend that you bypass the superstar pitcher tonight (Felix Hernandez) on the two pitcher format site that we know, love and refer to as DraftKings. Use the whopping 4K of potential savings on a stud outfielder, or corner infielder with serious yard work potential. This could be an "I told you so" scenario and the chance to score big in a Friday tourney.

The DFS Strategic Wrap Up

On most nights, and on all sites, the key to any successful DFS gaming strategy is to try to “buy low,” to unearth some undervalued talent using split stats or favorable player platoons. Sometimes sites just miss something in their algorithm and you can find a glitchy play (like when Hunter Pence: Fantasy Baseball Player News, Stats & Analysis" href="http://dev.rotoballer.com/fantasy-baseball-mlb-player-news/Hunter+Pence">Hunter Pence was flukily dropped to $2,200 on FanDuel earlier this season). Although predicting the outcomes of baseball games can be extremely tough (if not borderline impossible), using a smart, proven, analytical process, and good sabermetric data to back up our intuition gives us the edge we need to make incremental gains over our competitors.

We can’t stress this point to you enough so we’ll say it yet again: if you haven’t experienced the thrill of drafting a new fantasy team every night and competing for just one day, then you have no idea what you're missing! We highly suggest you join in on the fun, especially if you are one of the unfortunate souls who has had a tough go at it in seasonal fantasy baseball formats. Whether the injury bug bit your team, or whether your draft didn't live up to your expectations (and hype), you now have a fantastic option (and reason) to keep playing fantasy baseball for the rest of the year.

Good luck today playing your DFS games tonight, RotoBallers!
