This it it. The MLB regular season is finally coming to a close. This is the last day of regular season baseball before the playoffs start. Let's get one more fantasy win under that fantasy baseball belt.
There are a lot of great games on the slate tonight. There are quite a few outstanding pitchers, and a lot of value. Let's get to it.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 10/2/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.
DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel
Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox have a few hitters that are finally starting to heat up. Do not underestimate their upside and power. Jose Berrios is pitching for the Minnesota Twins, and he is likely going to surrender multiple runs in less than five innings pitched, allowing the bullpen to take over.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers are hitting in Coors Field. Colorado is pitching German Marquez, one of their worst starters. Do not avoid this game. It is the last time fantasy owners will be able to see Coors Field until next season. Take advantage.
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel
Justin Verlander ($10,600)
Compared to Max Scherzer and Chris Sale, Justin Verlander is too cheap. He is a better pitcher than Chris Sale (at least, this season he is), and he is cheaper than Scherzer. He has been fantastic all season long, and he will dominate tonight against the Atlanta Braves' horrible offense.
Matt Moore ($8,000)
Matt Moore comes with quite a bit of risk, but he is a great tournament option tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers recently embarrassed him, but the San Francisco Giants' newly acquired pitcher will look to secure a wild card spot win a win. He pitches better in San Francisco, and in his last start, he posted 65 fantasy points.
DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel
Catcher (C) - Yadier Molina ($3,200)
Yadier Molina is the best fantasy catcher on the board tonight. He gets an easy matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he is hitting over .300 in his last 10 games. He has been hitting well for the last month now, and he can be used in both 50/50 contests and tournaments.
First Base (1B) - Kendrys Morales ($3,000)
Kendrys Morales put together a nice 2016 campaign this year. With 30 home runs and 93 RBIs, his upside for fantasy purposes should be obvious. Over his last few games, he is hitting consistently at the plate, as well, making him usable in all formats.
Second Base (2B) - Cesar Hernandez ($3,000)
Cesar Hernandez's price tag is likely based on Noah Syndergaard being on the mound for the New York Mets. That will not be the case tonight, as Gabriel Ynoa will start in his place. Hernandez is hitting over .300 in his last 10 games, and his price tag is low. What is not to love?
Shortstop (SS) - J.J. Hardy ($2,500)
J.J. Hardy has been great all season long, as far as fantasy is concerned. His price tag never comes up. He is hitting in New York, and he does have the power to hit a home run. That takes care of his upside. In his last 10 starts, he is hitting around .275, and he has nine or more fantasy points in two of his last three games. Use him in all formats.
Third Base (3B) - Nolan Arenado ($4,300)
There is not too much to think about here. The third base position is not great tonight, and Nolan Arenado is hitting in Coors Field. The Milwaukee Brewers have a terrible pitching staff, and the Colorado Rockies are going to score runs. Use Arenado in all formats.
DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel
Justin Upton ($3,400)
Justin Upton gets a semi-tough matchup tonight against Julio Teheran and the Atlanta Braves, but he is too good to pass on him. With over 18 fantasy points in three of his last four games and 30 fantasy points in two, he is showing that the downside of this season has been a fluke. Upton will be back with a statement next season.
Mark Trumbo ($3,300)
Mark Trumbo has been a machine when it comes to hitting home runs this season. He has 47 with a .256 batting average, which has dramatically decreased in the second half of the season. Regardless, he is hitting in New York to end the season, and he will be looking to go out with a bang.
