There are a bunch of great matchups today for hitters.
Keep reading to find out who to stack, who to pitch, and a few value plays at each position.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/22/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.
DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel
New York Mets
The New York Mets get a fantastic matchup today against the Milwaukee Brewers and Chase Anderson. Anderson is one of the worst pitchers on the board, and the Mets have been struggling offensively of recent. They should break out of the slump that they have been in with such a great opportunity.
Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates will face off against Chad Bettis and the Colorado Rockies today. Unfortunately, the game will not be held in Coors Field. Regardless, the Pirates should produce some runs. They have a great offense, and most of their players are generally priced rather fairly. Use them in both 50/50 contests and tournaments.
Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies are a great tournament stack today against the Atlanta Braves and Casey Kelly. The Braves are currently dealing with a few issues in their pitching staff. Realistically, Kelly is not much of a major league pitcher. The Phillies have great upside, but do not expect them to hit, as they are never a guarantee.
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel
Noah Syndergaard
Noah Syndergaard, despite his high price tag, is the best pitching option on the board today, as he gets a great matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers have one of the worst offenses in the league, and Syndergaard is having a great season. He recently posted over 60 fantasy points in his last game, which was against the Washington Nationals - a much tougher opponent.
Max Scherzer
It is not the time to get 'cute' at the pitcher position. Max Scherzer is a great tournament option today against the Miami Marlins. Two games ago, he posted over 90 fantasy points, striking out 20 batters in a single nine-inning game. That is a ridiculous accomplishment. To say that he has great upside is an understatement.
DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel
Catcher (C) - Francisco Cervelli
Francisco Cervelli has really cooled off of recent, but with such a great matchup today, it is going to be tough to avoid him. He has solid upside, and he is pretty consistent for a catcher. With only five extra base hits all season, it may be best to use him in 50/50 contests for the most part.
First Base (1B) - Steve Pearce
Steve Pearce has been absolutely on fire of recent. In his last four games, he has over 20 fantasy points in three of them. His price tag skyrocketed, but it is still justifiable to use him in tournaments, as his upside is through the roof right now.
Second Base (2B) - Robinson Cano
Robinson Cano already has 12 home runs this season, and it does not look like he is ready to slow down any time soon. He is hitting close to .300, and he gets a great matchup today in Cincinnati, which is a great ballpark for home run hitters.
Shortstop (SS) - Zack Cozart
Zack Cozart recently posted over 20 fantasy points in a game against the Seattle Mariners. He is hitting much better at home than he is on the road, and he is hitting over .300 on the road. That is saying something. He has great upside and power, and Great American Ball Park is fantastic for power hitters.
Third Base (3B) - Maikel Franco
Maikel Franco is not having the best season, but he also is not having the worst. He has great upside, but his consistency is still not present. Use him in tournaments only, even in such a great matchup against the Atlanta Braves and Casey Kelly. Remember, never trust a man with two first names.
DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel
Nelson Cruz
Nelson Cruz gets a great matchup today against the Cincinnati Reds in Great American Ball Park, which is great for... hitting home runs. Correct! Glad to see you are paying attention. Cruz is a very powerful batter, and he already has nine home runs this season. Use him in both 50/50 contests and tournaments.
Starling Marte
Starling Marte recently tended to his wife during her pregnancy, which kept him out of the lineup for a couple of days. He is back in action today against the Colorado Rockies, and he should be able to do some damage. He has both power and speed, and he can be used in all formats.
Curtis Granderson
Curtis Granderson gets a great matchup today against the Milwaukee Brewers and Chase Anderson. Anderson is a horrible pitching option, but the Brewers really do not have anyone better. Due to his recent lack of production, Granderson is dirt-cheap. He posted over 20 fantasy points in his last game, so maybe he is starting to heat up again. Use him in tournaments only.
