FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers and Advice for 8/11/15

Every team in the majors is set to take field on Tuesday in a slew of games highlighted by great matchups, pitting the Cardinals against the Pirates in St. Louis, and the Dodgers against the Nationals out in LA.

Plenty of strikeouts can be expected, too, with several ace pitchers taking the mound including Matt Harvey, Zack Grienke, and Madison Bumgarner. But there looks to be offense as well with temperatures at their peak. Here are a some pitchers and hitters to consider for your FanDuel lineups today.

Editor’s Note: We have some awesome rest of season MLB DFS Services Premium Lineup Picks deals, that include all of our Premium DFS lineup picks, analysis and also exclusive access to all our other Premium tools, apps and resources. Get MLB DFS Premium and get an edge!

DFS Starting Pitchers to Target for FanDuel

Anibal Sanchez (SP, DET) - $8,200

A 4.82 ERA makes Sanchez appear like a scary option against the Royals on Monday, but a closer look reveals a potentially promising matchup. Six Royals, including Lorenzo Cain, Salvador Perez, and Ben Zobrist, have career AVGs below .200 against Sanchez, and not a single one of them has hit a HR off the righty. The Royals as a whole are hitting only .206 with two HR across 233 AB versus Sanchez, suggesting that nasty ERA could look a little better come Wednesday. With a handful of big names out there on Monday, Sanchez could make for a great value.

Zach Greinke (SP, LAD) - $12,400

He may be the most expensive pitcher available today, but if you're going to target a big name Greinke is the way to go. He was roughed up a bit in his last start, giving up six ER, but five of those came in the first inning and the Dodger’s ace was nearly lights out after. In a cumulative 69 AB against Greinke, the Nationals have a paltry .159 AVG with one HR and two RBI. Greinke won’t be cheap, but he looks to be worth it.

DFS Infielders to Target for FanDuel

Joe Mauer (C, MIN) - $2,300

A wRC+ of 91 suggest Mauer has been in the bottom half of hitters thus far in 2015, and the rest of his stat line says the same. The catcher has spent most of the year hitting less than .270 and slugged just his seventh HR in 108 games a couple of days ago. Despite that, Mauer has good value today facing a pitcher in Yovani Gallardo whom he has six hits and three walks in 12 AB against. The points aren’t likely to come by the long ball, but Mauer can still post solid production.

Robinson Cano (2B, MIN) - $3,800

This is Cano’s second straight day on this list despite busting yesterday, and there’s a reason for that. Chris Tillman, the Orioles pitcher who will face the Mariners today, doesn’t like Cano—not one bit. In 29 AB against Tillman, Cano is hitting a robust .414 with a couple HR and 8 RBI. The resurgent Cano remains a great play in FanDuel.

Matt Duffy (2B, SF) - $3,300

Duffy has done nothing but hit over the last couple of weeks, posting multiple hits five times in his last 13 games with 31 TB in that span. He’s not a great source of RBI and hasn’t produced many runs despite hitting so well, but remains a hot bat capable of putting up points at a cheap price.

DFS Outfielders to Target for FanDuel

Justin Upton (OF, SD) - $3,200

A bad Padres team has somewhat overshadowed the success Upton has had this season. He’s two SB short of a 20-20 season and has been rolling as of late with 12 RBI in his last 15 games. He’s also set to face a right-hander in Michael Lorenzen on Tuesday, which shouldn’t be a problem given Upton’s .494 SLG and .363 wOBA against righties in 2015.

Nick Markakis (OF, ATL) - $3,100

Markakis’ lengthy hitting streak ended on Sunday with an 0-4 effort against the Marlins, but the recent surge has his AVG hovering around .300 and his RBI total rising. He offers no power and is far from a terror on the base-paths, but as long as Markakis is seeing the ball well he can score adequate points in many other ways at a cheap price. Just like Upton, he’ll face a right-hander on Tuesday. His wOBA climbs to .344 against righties.

Aaron Hicks (OF, MIN) - $3,000

Hicks exploded in late July before falling into a slump for the better part of the last two weeks, but seems to have found his stroke again. The young outfielder is hitting well above .300 in his last handful of games and will face Yovani Gallardo at home on Tuesday. Hicks is hitting .337 in Target Field, more than 100 points higher than the .233 he’s hitting on the road.

DFS Player to Avoid for FanDuel

Jhonny Peralta (SS, STL) - $2,600

The first half of 2015 was kind to Peralta, but the second half hasn’t been. A .195 AVG since the break has dropped Peralta’s season mark to .278, and to make matters worse he’ll be facing a pitcher in Jeff Locke on Tuesday against whom he is 0 – 12 career with five strikeouts. By no means is he an expensive option, but pick another SS today.
