FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers and Advice for 7/8/15

What's up readers. As with every Wednesday we're looking at another full slate of baseball. There's four early games on Wednesday, July 8th, so double-check lineups before 1:10 if you plan to play in an all-day league. It's Clayton Kershaw ($12,500) day, and while some may be willing to pay up for the seemingly tasty matchup with Philly, my advice is to take a second tier SP and invest in hitting. Let's get to it.

Editor's Note: If you play on FanDuel, you should also check out RotoBaller’s DFS Partner DraftKings - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's FREE to enter and pays out $110,000 in cash prizes!

Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Jacob deGrom (NYM, SP) @ SF - $10,800

Right below the Kershaw priceline we find deGrom.DeGrom has a 1.55 ERA since May 16th, owns a 1.30 ERA in day games and faces a Giants team that's losers of seven of their past eight games. Sounds safer to me for $1,700 less.

Mike Fiers (SEA, SP) @ SD - $7,700

Fiers has three straight quality starts and has the K potential (9.10 K/9) you want from a value play. The Braves don't strike out often, but I like the Brewers to take the go-away game this afternoon.

Note: If you join a late contest (7:05 ET) my pitching options are unavailable. In that case I recommend buying Michael Wacha ($8,600) or forking up the cash for Kershaw.

Offenses to Target for FanDuel Stacking

Milwaukee Brewers

I'm known around here as an avid Braves fan but also a vehement Julio Teheran supporter. Unfortunately today I will be hopping off the train when it pulls into Miller Park. Teheran owns a 7.40 ERA and 1.93 WHIP in road games this season with 11 HR allowed. He hasn't shown much improvement either, allowing six runs in his outings at Pittsburgh and Boston in his last two road appearances. Multiple Brewers are hot right now including player of the week Aramis Ramirez ($3,400), Adam Lind ($4,100),  Gerardo Parra ($3,400), Jean Segura ($2,800), and Jonathan Lucroy ($3,200). Pick accordingly.

Honorable Mentions: Los Angeles Angels ; Toronto Blue Jays

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Michael McKenry (COL, C) - $2,700

This pick will require you to keep an eye on the lineups, but if McKendry plays he makes for a cheap piece of the Coors action. He has a .298/.393/.532 split at home. I'd rather play it safe and go with Lucroy for what it's worth.

Joey Votto (CIN, 1B) - $3,100

Votto's starting to hit out of his July funk, as he finished a triple short of the cycle last night in a 3-for-5 effort. He's better facing righties, but he does carry a 5-for-12 line with two HR vs Gio Gonzalez if you buy small sample sizes. At this low of a price point it's worth gambling to see if last night was start of a run.

Dee Gordon (MIA, 2B) - $3,200

Rick Porcello has been awful for Boston, posting an 8.18 ERA over his last eight starts. In addition he's allowed 12 stolen bases, which is tied for sixth in baseball. Gordon has three steals in his past four games, and the price seems reasonable for tourney play.

Manny Machado (BAL, 3B) - $4,200

I hope everyone realizes how good we baseball fans have it with Manny Machado and Nolan Arenado manning third for the next decade plus. Just two phenomenal athletes. Machado gets the spotlight today. He's batting .324 vs LHP, slugging .551 in day games, and is 5-for-8 with a HR lifetime vs starter Tommy Milone.

Marcus Semien (OAK, SS) - $2,200

Anyone who owns Semien in a regular league may be screaming at their screen calling me an idiot. But at this price I think there's a play here. He has a six-game hitting streak going and has a .299/.353/.416 split vs LHP. Worth a play if you're trying to stack elsewhere.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Kole Calhoun (LAA, OF) - $4,300

Calhoun is coming in much cheaper on FanDuel than DraftKings, so players should be wise to insert him into their lineup at this reduced price. Calhoun has recorded a hit and scored a run in four straight games, has a HR in two of past four, and has better numbers vs LHP.

A.J. Pollock (ARI, OF) - $3,800

Another chance to plug in Pollock vs a lefty. He's hitting .329/.380/.507 against them this season and has actually fared better away from Chase Field.

Michael Brantley (CLE, OF) - $3,000

Brantley's price has plummeted, mainly due to his inability to generate any pop. He didn't record a HR in June and produced a .363 SLG. Last night's HR was a sign of life for owners and was hopefully the wake up call he needs. Brantley is 2-for-2 with two 2B vs Dan Straily if small sample sizes mean anything to you.

Cameron Maybin (ATL, OF) - $2,800

Not sure how they came up with this price. Maybin has been the #13 OF in the past two weeks and is working on a seven-game hitting streak. He's an excellent OF3 for FanDuel today.
