FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (4/15/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

We get a four-game main slate for DraftKings and FanDuel on Monday night You should be looking at teams in the higher over-under games.

Remember, when picking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. Watch to see what the Colorado and Calgary game ends up at.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/15/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Sebastian Aho - C, CAR vs WSH (FD - $6,400, DK - $5,800)

Aho bounced back on Saturday after two noticeable gaffes and potted a goal at long last. Will this spark the forward as the series shifts to Carolina? That is the hope. Shot volume, chances, and blocks have all dropped by quite a bit. This Carolina team needs Aho to be running well and generating opportunities away from the perimeter and more down the middle. Furthermore, they need Aho scoring and distributing from the opening drop of the puck. Now that Washington is on the road, Carolina becomes a bit better of a play. The Capitals yield 3.34 goals per game on the road and the second most high-danger chances per 60 in the league.

Mikko Rantanen - W, COL vs CGY (FD - $7,500, DK - $5,800)

Rantanen was a bit rusty in his first game back but set up two of Colorado's most crucial goals of the season in Saturday's overtime win over the Calgary Flames. Granted, his FanDuel price is a touch on the high side but this is a top-ten winger which commands such price respectability. Rantanen's shot volume is a bit erratic (less than two a game over the past seven contests) and that was the case before the injury. However, the chances he can still create are worth talking about. For example, the laser quick pass to spring Nathan MacKinnon in overtime is one that will be examined for some time. The goal scoring touch will return soon enough.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Dougie Hamilton - D, CAR vs WSH (FD - $6,000, DK - $5,400)

The only frustrating aspect of Hamilton is that his coach does not utilize his shot on the power play more. That being said, the defenseman provides a nice floor and is averaging over three shots a game in his last dozen contests. Add in the nine points in that span and numerous chances created and one gets the recipe for a home play on Monday night against a team porous during the long line change especially. One can always flip things and go with John Carlson again anyway or even Tyson Barrie who both enjoy relatively favorable matchups as well.

Travis Hamonic - D, CGY vs COL (FD - $4,300, DK - $4,600)

Hamonic is a dicey play but it is his floor that is enticing. He has 12 blocks in his last two starts and 36 in the previous ten games. Shots on goal have been okay of late for the defenseman which merits at least a look. The price level is not below $4,000 but it is close enough. He does possess a booming shot like an older version of Ryan Pulock. However, he does have to use it more often. Again, Calgary plays a bit better defensively on the road and that could mean more blocks again for Hamonic.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Philipp Grubauer - G,  (FD - $7,600, DK - $7,200)

Grubauer came through in the clutch in Game 2 making save after save in the waning moments of regulation and overtime. That kept Colorado in the game until Nathan MacKinnon's goal ended Game 2. In all, the goalie had 35 saves and established a little bit of control after a difficult Game 1. His low price and the fact that Colorado plays so well at home are big reasons why looking at Grubauer is a decent enough idea. His ability to stop pucks of late (7-1-2 in the last ten with a sub 2.00 goals-against average) is another. Petr Mrazek is a couple of hundred dollars cheaper and a reasonable goalie punt play.
