FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/1/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

We have a full slate of Major League Baseball games, with seven day games with first pitch between 1:05 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. ET, with one game at 6:40 p.m., and eight games starting at 7:05 p.m. ET. We'll have selections for the 'All Day' contests, so you'll have a wide-array of selections to choose from. We also have a doubleheader between the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox, so watch out for tired bats in the second end for those playing both games.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/1/2019. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @danieledobish.

Weather Outlook

The Pirates and the Rangers will be dealing with a hot, strong wind blowing in from right field to home plate, knocking down fly balls off the bats of left-handed hitters. The good news is that this game will be the only weather trouble spot, as all other venues have a 20 percent chance or less of precipitation, and 10 mph or less of wind.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Aaron Nola - P, PHI vs. DET ($9100)

The Tigers have won just once in the past 10 interleague road outings, and they're 1-5 in the past six outings for LHP Daniel Norris. That makes is super favorable for the ace Nola, even though he has struggled by his standards. He has a 2-0 record, but a dismal 5.68 ERA and .369 opponent on-base percentage. He might have finally figured it out, however, allowing one earned run over a season-best 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision last time out against the Marlins. Bank on Nola, as his price tag is able to go up.

Carlos Rodon - P, CHW vs. BAL - Game 1 ($9400)

Rodon toes the slab in Game 1 against the lowly O's, and the lefty has a super favorable matchup. The O's are 0-9 in their past nine tries against southpaws. In addition, they're 3-18 in the past 21 starts by RHP David Hess, and 1-12 in his past 13 road outings. That's great news for Rodon. The ChiSox are 4-1 in the past five starts, and they're 5-1 in the past six outings overall at home.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Carlos Santana - 1B, CLE vs. MIA ($3400)

Santana has been sensational this season, hitting .316 (30-for-95) with five doubles, three homers and 16 RBI which is the second-highest average among first basemen. He has been murdering the ball against left-handed pitchers, however, going 10-for-24 (.417) with two doubles, a homer and six RBI while posting a 1.188 OPS vs. just .786 against RHP.

Mike Moustakas - 2B, MIL vs. COL ($3500)

Moose is down the board in terms of batting average among second basemen. He isn't terrible, hitting a respectable .267, although his power has made him a great option most evenings. He has 12 extra-base hits, including seven homers, and that number leads the National League, and is second in the majors to only Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve (nine).

Jose Ramirez - 3B, CLE at MIA ($3600)

Ramirez has really ate it this season, hitting just .181 overall on the season with only four doubles, two homers and nine RBI with 17 strikeouts over 105 at-bats in 28 games. As such, he has a .276 slugging percentage, which is a far cry from his amazing season of 2018. He is going to start turning things around, and he is a tremendous value at this price point. From 2016-18 he has slashed .304/.360/.514 against lefties, so he could get things going against LHP Caleb Smith in Miami.

Dansby Swanson - SS, ATL vs. SD ( $3300)

Swanson was tearing the ball off the cover, but he has cooled off a bit over the past couple of weeks. Still, he has six doubles, two triples and five homers with 22 RBI, one of 11 shortstops with 13 or more extra-base hits so far this season.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Max Kepler - OF, MIN vs. HOU ($3700)

Kepler has been on fire lately, hitting .364 (8-for-22) with two doubles, four homers and six RBI across the past week, rolling up an impressive 1.000 slugging percentage and gaudy 1.400 OPS.

Eddie Rosario - OF, MIN vs. HOU ($4000)

Rosario has managed just a .228 batting average, but he is still a great DFS option because of his extra-base hit ability. He has four doubles and eight homers with 19 RBI across 92 at-bats. His home runs are tied for third among all outfielders.
