FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/14/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

As usual, we've got a smaller Monday slate, which makes it a bit more difficult to find obvious values. However, there are some clear stacks to target with the Indians, Astros, and Seattle as some of my early favorites.

As for pitchers, there are really only two cash game pitchers I'll be considering in Tyler Anderson and Carlos Carrasco. Other GPP options enter the picture, including Lance McCullers, Rick Porcello, and Chris Stratton.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me up on Twitter @DanMarcus3.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Carlos Carrasco - SP, @ DET ($9,800)

Carrasco has been boom or bust this season with four starts of 45 or more FD points but also three starts in which he has recorded 20 or fewer FD points. Still, he remains the top ace-like option due to his upside and relatively good matchup against the Tigers, who could have a very watered down lineup depending on the health of Nicholas Castellanos and Jeimer Candelario.

Tyler Anderson - SP, @ SDG ($6,900)

Anderson gets a positive matchup away from Coors Field but his price isn’t adjusted to reflect that. While his splits are skewed by the beatdown he received from the Diamondbacks in his opening start, Anderson has allowed only three earned runs in his past 18.2 innings on the road to go along with 20 strikeouts. To make matters even better, he is facing the Padres who have been a bottom third hitting team against lefties this season as measured by wRC+ and wOBA.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

C.J. Cron - 1B, @ KC ($3,400)

Cron has absolutely mashed left-handed pitching this season, slugging .619 in 42 at-bats against them for the season. As a left-handed pitcher, Eric Skoglund has actually shown reverse splits, but has gotten hit hard by all batters. Given Cron’s success against left-handed pitching this season, he is a reasonably priced first baseman to target on Monday’s slate.

Brian Dozier - 2B, vs. SEA ($3,700)

Dozier caused some panic in the early portions of the season among season-long/dynasty owners, but he is on pace to do basically what was expected of him this season after turning it on over the past few weeks. Monday, he gets the added benefit of facing left-hander Wade LeBlanc, and Dozier has a .929 OPS across 23 at-bats against them on the season.

Jean Segura - SS, @MIN ($3,500)

Jake Odorizzi has actually managed to pitch fairly well of late, but continues to be homer prone having given up at least one home run in his past five starts. Segura is worth targeting as one of the lowest-priced viable shortstops on the slate, unless you want to go into pure punt mode or pay all the way up for the likes of Francisco Lindor or Carlos Correa.

Jose Ramirez - 3B, @DET  ($4,200)

The Indians will be chalky and rightfully so. Ramirez, Lindor, and Michael Brantley are all raking right now and have a sensational mathcup against Mike Fiers, who has allowed a .403 wOBA and 3.38 HR/9 to LHB this season.  If you plan to pay down at pitcher, that will be an elite stack.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Lorenzo Cain- OF @ ARI ($3,400)

The surface stats haven’t fallen off for Patrick Corbin but there has been some well publicized concern over his velocity and lack of slider usage in his recent starts. Just in case that remains the case and it starts to show in his results, I want some exposure to the Brewers tonight. Cain is the easy choice to target -- enter small sample size caveat here -- as he has mashed lefties to the tune of a .771 slugging percentage in 35 at-bats this season.

Jake Marisnick - @LAA ($2,000)

This is the punt play special of the day to jam in some of those overpriced (or even properly priced) high ceiling players. With left-hander Andrew Heaney on the mound, however, Marisnick should be in the lineup. Though his done precious little with his 85 at-bats this season, he does have some event upside with three home runs and two stolen bases. In the event that the Astros lineup goes off on Monday’s slate, Marisnick could also stumble his way into FD points with good context, either driving in teammates or scoring runs with the top of the order delivering hits once he’s on base. Either way,  he’s an incredibly cheap piece to fit into lineups.

Bradley Zimmer OF, @DET ($2,400)

If Zimmer returns to the lineup on Monday, he is another player to target in a positive matchup with a cheap price tag. While he’s best as part of an Indians’ stack, if you are set on paying up for bats in addition to Carrasco, Zimmer is a worthy punt play option. Just make sure he’s in the lineup.
