FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (8/27/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

We have a pitching friendly slate, with the bad pitchers facing equally bad lineups in most cases. There are a number of viable pitchers on the slate, including Masahiro Tanaka and Gerrit Cole as well as the two highlighted in this article. However, there aren't a lot of obvious choices among bats to fill in the rest of lineups. The Diamondbacks are one easy choice to stack and picking through the rubble of the Jays and Orioles lineups is also a decent route to go. The one situation to monitor will be Wrigley Field, where winds are currently projected to be blowing out.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/27/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Patrick Corbin - SP, @ SF ($11,100)

Corbin is the easy cash game call on the slate. He’s been on an excellent run of starts -- he has a 2.73 ERA with 32 strikeouts across 26.1 innings in August -- and has also shown the ability to shut down the Giants this season as he has posted a 2.20 ERA with 37 strikeouts across 32.2 innings against them. Add in that the start is at pitcher-friendly AT&T Park and Corbin is the safest pitcher on the slate. His price tag is a bit prohibitive, but there are a lack of standout bats on the slate, make it easier to work around his cap hit.

Zach Eflin - SP, vs. WAS ($7,800)

Eflin is a risky GPP option worth it to open up salary to fit in high-priced stacks. Unlike Corbin, he hasn’t pitched well of late, creating enough risk to avoid him in cash games. However, he gets a bump pitching at home, where he has a 24% strikeout rate for the season. Adding another layer of risk is the Nationals lineup, which has put together a respectable 106 wRC+ across the last 30 days. Eflin’s skills indicate that he could be a cash game option, but the matchup and his recent form downgrade him to a GPP option for me.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Tyler White- 1B, vs. OAK ($3,000)

Brett Anderson hasn’t been a pitcher to pick on this season, but this slate is thin with hitters so simply having the handedness advantage is worth noting. That’s the case for White, who has posted a .531 slugging percentage against left-handed batters in 94 career at-bats. While his stint in the majors has been brief this season, he’s also swung the bat well, posting a .607 slugging percentage overall. There’s a chance White is out of the lineup, so be sure before locking him in.

Also Consider: Matt Davidson- 1B, @ NYY ($3,000)

Lourdes Gurriel - 2B, @ BAL ($2,600)

Gurriel hasn’t done much in three games since returning from the a nearly month-long disabled list stint. However, he is underpriced -- especially on this slate -- given his matchup against David Hess, who has allowed a 6.14 ERA at home this season, and he has chance to play in a positive hitters’ park. He’s shown plenty of upside in the past, so he’s a player to lock in at a nice price tag.

Renato Nunez - 3B, vs. TOR ($2,500)

The Orioles lineup is uninspiring at best, but Sam Gaviglio has somehow managed to post an 8.36 ERA on the road this season, allowing 2.39 HR/9 in the process. Stacking the Orioles is a difficult ask at this point, but Nunez is one player to turn to in cash game settings thanks to his low price tag and .371 on-base percentage across the last 30 days.

Nick Ahmed - SS, @ SFG ($2,600)

The Diamondbacks are one of the more comfortable stacks of the night despite a park downgrade with their shift to AT&T Park. The core of that stack is rather obvious with Paul Goldschmidt, A.J. Pollock, and David Peralta being the headliners. One less obvious option is Nick Ahmed, who as a .352 wOBA and 120 wRC+ in 114 post All-Star break at-bats.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Giancarlo Stanton - OF, vs. CWS ($4,800)

Stanton is a cash game building block nearly anytime the Yankees face a southpaw. Monday’s slate is no exception, even with a matchup against Carlos Rodon. While Stanton is a well-known lefty-killer it’s worth repeating his numbers, highlighted by a .344 ISO and .453 wOBA across 140 plate appearances this season.

Also Consider: David Dahl - OF, @ LAA ($2,700)
