9-Category Leagues - Waiver Wire Adds

This column is written based on H2H 9-category standard size leagues. All players in this article are rostered at around 50 percent or less.

De'Anthony Melton, PG/SG - Memphis Grizzlies

47% rostered

After missing three games with a groin injury, Melton returned to the lineup against the Hawks, playing 20 minutes. He had eight points, one assist, two steals, and one block.

I'm not super excited by Melton, who last scored double-digit points on November 8th. But what he does bring is three and steals, so fantasy managers who need help in those two categories should definitely have some interest in Melton. And Ja Morant will likely be missing some time, opening up some additional scoring chances for Melton.

John Wall, PG - Houston Rockets

31% rostered

Wall hasn't played yet this season, but

maybe John Wall will be back? With Jalen Green out for at least a bit with a hamstring injury, Houston could shift Kevin Porter Jr. to shooting guard and put Wall in as the starting point guard, where he would be able to compile ample stats on a team that needs someone to score for it in the short term.

Alec Burks, SG/SF - New York Knicks

30% rostered

Burks won't have 23 points and seven rebounds every night, but he's definitely playing some good basketball and should give you double-digit points, five boards, some threes, and some steals each night.

That's worth a roster spot in more than 30 percent of leagues.

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, SF - Oklahoma City Thunder

28% rostered

Over the last four games, JRE is averaging 12.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.5 threes per game on 48.6 percent shooting.

The Thunder seem intent on giving the rookie minutes and he seems intent on putting up solid numbers in those minutes. So fantasy managers should respond to that by making sure the former Villanova player is in their fantasy lineup.

Marvin Bagley III, PF/C - Sacramento Kings

26% rostered

Bagley played 35 minutes last game because of injuries on the Kings. He had 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

The thing with Bagley is this: if he's going to get big minutes, he should be rostered. He's not a very good player, but if the Kings are forced to play him, he'll compile some decent numbers. Giving you something like a 12 and seven each night would be worth something.

Marcus Morris Sr., PF/C - Los Angeles Clippers

24% rostered

Morris has played some solid ball since returning from a knee injury. If you want 10 points, five rebounds, a three, and maybe a steal or a block each night in your lineup, he's an unexciting but productive fantasy option for you.

Tyus Jones, PG - Memphis Grizzlies

23% rostered

Ja Morant is set to miss some time with a knee injury, which means Tyus Jones will likely start at point guard for a little while in Memphis.

In 20 minutes against the Hawks, he had 10 points and two assists. The assist numbers should increase, and I'd expect to see more steals out of Jones too with more minutes. Decent deep-league pick-up.

Willy Hernangomez, C - New Orleans Pelicans

19% rostered

Willy has double-digit points in four games in a row. In fact, over the past four games, Hernangomez is on fire, averaging 13.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game on 69.7 percent shooting.

He's also adding 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game over that span.

Hernangomez should remain the backup center in New Orleans going forward, giving him a chance to keep this run up.

Malik Monk, PG/SG - Los Angeles Lakers

17% rostered

Another "playing a lot out of necessity" guy here Over the last three games, Monk is averaging 16.3 points per game on 52.8 percent shooting with 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He's making 2.7 threes per game over that stretch.

Is this current stretch a sign of things to come?

*shrugs*

But in deep leagues, Monk is someone you should probably target for the upside.
