BALLER MOVE: Target as Low-End WR2
CURRENT ADP: 58 STD, 51 PPR
ANALYSIS: Labeled as a strong breakout candidate for the 2014 season, Golden Tate flourished in his first season with the Lions, amassing 1,331 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Those numbers were good enough to make him the 13th highest-scoring fantasy wideout in standard leagues and 11th in PPR-- not bad for a player with a 2014 ADP in the mid-90s.
The 26-year-old former Seahawk's 720 YAC last year were the most among wide receivers. Less than 20% of Tate’s 143 targets were deep balls, leading to an impressive catch rate of 69.2%. While he can be a deep threat, he is mainly a consistent possession receiver capable of shaking defenders with his quickness.
He had seven or more receptions in eight games last year, as well as five games with over 100 yards. He even posted back-to-back 150+ yard showings in weeks seven and eight, hauling in 28 total passes over that span.
He never eclipsed 100 yards in 2014 while Calvin Johnson was healthy, but with another year of experience in Jim Caldwell’s offensive scheme, Tate should have no trouble finding passes form Matthew Stafford.
His ESPN ADP of 62 puts him 24th among receivers, making Tate a solid WR2 as one of the most valuable handcuffs in the league.
