Fantasy Hockey Sleepers: NHL Waiver Wire Forwards for 1/19/16

Welcome to the new Fantasy Hockey Sleepers and NHL Waiver Wire report. Each week I will be updating some of the players you should targeting on the waiver wire to help you build a championship fantasy hockey team. The recommendations will focus on, for the most part, standard Yahoo! Fantasy Hockey leagues with the following stat categories:

  1. Goals
  2. Assists
  3. Powerplay Points
  4. Short Handed Points
  5. +/- Rating
  6. Shots on Goal
  7. Hits
  8. Faceoffs Won
  9. Goalie Wins
  10. Saves
  11. Save %
  12. Goals Against Average
  13. Shutouts

Only players who are under 50% owned in Yahoo Fantasy Hockey will be considered for the waiver wire report. If you have specific questions about how a player fits your league settings please hit me up on Twitter(@Jager_Bombs9)

Let us now take a look at this week's low owned waiver wire options..

Fantasy Hockey Sleepers and Waiver Wire Pickups at Forward

Andrew Shaw (CHI, RW) 23% Owned

The line combination of Shaw, Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews has been one of the hottest lines in league the last couple weeks. Shaw himself has seven points in his last five games with a +7 rating, 11 shots and six hits. The Blackhawks are the hottest team in the NHL right now winning 11 straight games and if you get a chance to pick up a top 6 forward off their team jump in and get him.

Vladislav Namestnikov (TB, C) 25% Owned

His value has increased a ton over the last couple weeks as he has spent the last five games skating on the top line with Steven Stamkos. In that time he has recorded eight points including three multi point games, a +2 rating and 10 shot on goal. He now has 23 points on the year with an impressive +13 rating for the Lightning. If he continues to skate on the top line he is a must add as the Lightning push for the playoffs.

Ryan Spooner (BOS, C/LW) 29% Owned (+11% from Lat Week)

He has been red hot the last few weeks with 11 points in his last nine games and now has 33 points on the season. He is skating on the second line with Loui Eriksson and Matt Belesky and has been averaging 2:39 on the leagues #1 powerplay. He has mutli position eligibility covering Center and Left Wing. The ownership is climbing fast so pick him up if you have the room.

Also available - Leo Komarov (TOR, LW/C) 46% Owned
