Fantasy Sleepers: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Eric Decker, Rueben Randle, Shane Vereen

The battle of New York on Sunday will pit the Jets against the Giants in a rare game between the stadium mates. While the talking points and bragging rights for the game result are providing great entertainment, the fantasy side of things is equally exciting. Both teams should score enough points to give great fantasy performances from multiple positions.

The Jets should have more fantasy stars ready for breakout performances because the Giants defense is near the bottom of the league at defending just about every position. Ryan Fitzpatrick is one of the best sleepers at quarterback this week. Excluding the Oakland Raiders game he had to leave due to injury, Fitzpatrick has scored at least two touchdowns in nine of his ten games as a Jet. The matchup is better than ever and he could easily have one of his better games of the season. Brandon Marshall is obviously the best wide receiver for the Jets but Eric Decker tends to get overlooked. Decker has become one of the most reliable fantasy wide receivers this year. With eight touchdown receptions in ten games, Decker provides a high ceiling and low floor. Decker has not delivered fewer than eight standard fantasy points in any game this season. If Fitzpatrick has a big game as expected, Decker should see at least one score and plenty of yards.

Things are a little trickier for the Giants. Odell Beckham Jr. and Eli Manning are worth starting every week but it gets quite bleak after that. The running game features four talented backs but they’ve been unable to establish any success. The Jets field a very good run defense and have given up the fourth least amount of fantasy points to opposing running backs. It would benefit the Giants to forget about the rush and go with Shane Vereen all day. As the pass-catching back, Vereen would be better suited to give Manning another receiving weapon against a tough defense. The loss of Darrelle Revis due to his concussion makes the Jets weaker against the pass. Beckham should be in for a huge game but don’t be afraid to take a chance on Rueben Randle. His play is extremely inconsistent but we’ve seen Eli look for him in the end zone this season. The game will be a shootout and there will be enough passing attempts to make things interesting for Randle. Look to the Jets vs. Giants game for plenty of fantasy value and potentially great sleeper picks.
