BALLER MOVE: Add in Most Mixed Leagues

ANALYSIS: Fernando Rodney began the season as the Padres’ closer, compiling a 0.31 ERA with 17 saves in as many chances. However, since moving to Miami, he has posted a 5.71 ERA across 17.1 innings, allowing a run in seven of his 18 appearances. Still, with A.J. Ramos hitting the disabled list, Rodney will slide into Miami’s closer role.
He owns a 0.91 ERA in the ninth inning this season— 4.96 in the eighth — to go along with 254 career saves. That combination of experience and success is not often available in almost half of all leagues.
Rodney is 39 years old and was ineffective for most of 2015 — 5.68 ERA, 16 saves, six blown saves in 50.2 IP for the Mariners — but a closer with a proven track record is not someone to leave on the waiver wire.
