BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Mixed Leagues, AL-Only Leagues
OWNED IN: 6% Fleaflicker
ANALYSIS: With Huston Street and Cam Bedrosian both sidelined, the Angels appear to be turning to Fernando Salas for the ninth inning. Salas is not the most productive reliever left in Los Angeles’ bullpen, but he is the most experienced— he saved 24 games for the Cardinals back in 2011, and has 363 career innings under his belt.
The 31-year-old owns a 4.66 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP with 37 K in 48.1 IP, but most of the damage was done in June, in which he allowed 13 of his 25 ER in just 11.1 IP.
Salas is not the most exciting pickup, and fantasy owners in most mixed leagues would really be scraping the bottom of the barrel by adding him. Still, owners in AL-Only or deep mixed formats could potentially find a cheap source of saves here. Deolis Guerra — 2.70 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 26 K in 36.2 IP — would likely be next in line.
