FFPC Dynasty Fantasy Football Orphan Teams: A Fresh Challenge

When a pro sports team does not produce well on the field for extended periods, many fans will naturally look to ownership and front office management as a primary source of the problems. Those who support teams such as the Jets, Jaguars, Lions, and Commanders may think they can do better than the real decision-makers.

A primary reason why fantasy football is so popular is that it loosely replicates the experience of running an NFL team. The simulation mirrors reality even more when you run a dynasty fantasy football team. You become a busier decision-maker, taking the controls of a roster from year to year with short and long-term goals in mind.

Do you want to guide a team that needs to be built into a winner, and assume the controls of a roster that must be revamped or tweaked to make it a championship contender? Here’s your chance to buy a team, much like a real NFL owner would and alter its directions and fortunes. Buying an “orphan” dynasty team in the Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC) will give you the opportunity to see how you can turn a franchise around. It can satisfy that desire to show you can do it better than Christopher and Woody Johnson or Shahid Khan.

Fantasy Football Dynasty Orphan Teams: A Different Way To Play In The FFPC

Taking over an FFPC team that is unclaimed is a unique and distinctive test of your fantasy skills. This is a squad that has already been previously constructed, but you can rebuild or retool a fantasy roster that needs to be “fixed up” to emerge as a top team in the league. Pull off the makeover, and enjoy a new sense of fantasy satisfaction that one has not felt before.

Every year, many FFPC players put up their existing dynasty teams up for sale on the site at this link. Very often, they are likely not seeing a path to contention and want to start over by building a new team. But while they are moving on, you can see an opportunity for a turnaround.

Available "orphan" Dynasty teams for sale on the FFPC site.

Some teams will be discounted, which you can take advantage of, and others can come more ready-made to have a better chance of competing right away. If you want to remake a lesser roster into a contender, take advantage of the discounted price. Those who want to jump in already to an existing league with a team that can vie for a championship sooner can buy a better roster at closer to the usual price of an FFPC dynasty league entry fee.

FFPC dynasty teams for sale are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. One appealing part of getting involved with an existing league is that you can start making trades right away involving established rosters and teams. The process of drafting and constructing a roster can be skipped over, and one can leap right into full-on current team management mode.

Buying A Dynasty Football Team For Sale

You can buy FFPC fantasy football dynasty teams for sale in different formats and at varying price levels. The purchase will depend on your budget and the type of “challenge” you want to take on in terms of rebuilding or retooling the team. There’s a good amount of satisfaction you can get from turning a mediocre team into a champion. My first-ever fantasy football team was one I bought from someone else in an existing league and I reworked it into a championship winner. That was a lot of fun to accomplish for the first time.

Teams for purchase are available in standard, superflex, and dynasty formats. Personally, when seeking a team for purchase recently, I did not want to buy a team that was highly devoid of impact players but also wanted to take on the task of making a fair or good team into a much better one.

When reviewing rosters, I wanted at least a few quality anchor players. What I did notice is that many of the teams with a better existing roster had fewer draft picks available, especially in the earlier rounds. So I could tell which teams were in a “win now” mode last season and which ones are full rebuilding projects.

If you buy a team at a low price and it may take two to three years to make it into a league winner, the experience will be highly enjoyable if the goal is accomplished. Those who buy a contending team may be able to profit sooner by taking on a squad that can win earlier and deliver a good return in terms of cashing out. When you are playing high stakes fantasy football, the obvious goal is to profit, and when you purchase an existing team, it’s another route to cashing out. The decision one has to make is whether to do it in the longer term or the shorter term, but either way, you are profiting.

My FFPC Dynasty Fantasy Football Purchase

I perused several rosters. First, I considered a few significantly discounted squads, but many of them were sparse in talent.  Other teams that could be contenders right away lacked so many notable draft choices it made for limited appeal, as I wanted to do more than just assume the controls of an established team with little in the way of possible youth infusion.

I may indeed revisit the challenge of a highly discounted squad, as that will be fun to overhaul it. For now, I purchased a superflex dynasty team that does have many quality core pieces while also needing some work to be a true title squad.

Here is the team that I bought:

QBs – Trey Lance, Jordan Love, Tom Brady

RBs – Derrick Henry, Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard, Myles Gaskin, Jeff Wilson Jr.

WRs – Terry McLaurin, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Antonio Brown, Kenny Golladay, Will Fuller, Sterling Shepard, Marvin Jones, Damiere Byrd, Marquez Callaway

TEs – Travis Kelce, Dan Arnold, Albert Okwuegbunam

DST/K – Miami, New Orleans, Evan McPherson

This team was obviously coming off a disappointing year but has the potential to get back into championship contention. It has the eighth pick in the first round, but no second or third rounders. I may consider dealing a WR for a second or third rounder, but what is apparent right away is that the second QB slot is a glaring concern with Brady retiring.

Lance will likely start and can at least be a top 10 QB right away, but unless Aaron Rodgers gets traded, I will have to trade for a second QB because there is not much in terms of appealing prospects in the 2022 draft. McLaurin and Higgins could be key parts of deals to bring back a good return, but I will need assurance that Calvin Ridley can be a contributor again in 2022, or draft a WR with my first pick. I may be able to move Ridley for a decent QB or a draft choice.

Kelce almost functions as another WR with the type of numbers he puts up, so I can be ready to deal from strength, especially if Washington improves its QB situation for McLaurin. At running back, I can still have good expectations for Henry and Elliott if they stay healthy, but I will also have to see if Miami makes a move at RB that could further lower the value of Gaskin, who is an unreliable flex player anyway.

Already I am compiling trade offers to improve at QB and gain another higher draft choice, but there are other uncertainties here, too. It all makes for a compelling test of the fantasy skills, one that is definitely unique to taking on an existing FFPC fantasy football dynasty team that needed new management.
