BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 15% of leagues
ANALYSIS: San Diego outfielder Franchy Cordero got off to a hot start in 2018, carrying a .364 wOBA, .299 ISO, and 136 wRC+ through April. He has cooled off in the month of May, but still holds a respectable .326 wOBA for the season with seven home runs and five stolen bases. Cordero is an exciting player with a power and speed combo that should be respected more in fantasy leagues.
The left-handed outfielder has been smoking the ball all year with an impressive 48.8% hard contact rate. That kind of power from a player capable of stealing 20 bases should be an exciting add in mixed formats, yet he is just 15% owned. One drawback to Cordero's game is his strikeouts, which sit at 35.3% for the season. The good news is that he has cut down considerably on the O-Swing% (pitches chased out of the strike zone) and his swinging strike rate from last season. If you consider those changes along with his increased contact rate you have a cheap power and stolen base threat who is getting better every day.
The bottom line here is that Franchy Cordero is a very talented outfielder capable of hitting tape measure home runs while contributing in multiple categories on your fantasy team. Over the last 30 days, Cordero is batting .250 with three home runs and three stolen bases. If he is sitting on your waiver wire it might be a smart move to scoop him up now before he goes on a tear.
