BALLER MOVE: Add in 12- and 14-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 10% Yahoo!
ANALYSIS: Franklin Barreto made his Major League debut Saturday against the White Sox, finishing 2-for-5 with a home run in what turned out to be a historic afternoon for the Athletics— three different players notched their first career long ball. Barreto will be filling in for an injured Chad Pinder, and should see somewhat-regular playing time for the immediate future. The 21-year-old slashed .281/.326/.428 across 309 plate appearances in the minors, crushing eight homers and swiping four bases. He possesses an impressive combination of athleticism and an advanced approach that should allow him to contribute in all five categories. Shortstop is a weak position, and Oakland’s top prospect could slide right into many starting lineups-- especially those with a middle infield slot. Barreto’s first stay in the big leagues might be temporary, but his upside makes him worth owning in most leagues for the time being. And, of course, if he produces right away, he could capture a permanent role in the Bay Area.
