BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 0% of leagues
ANALYSIS: San Diego Padres outfielder Franmil Reyes came seemingly out of nowhere to hit 14 home runs in 154 plate appearances for Triple-A El Paso this season. The big league team could not deny his numbers any longer, calling him up to the Show on Sunday night. If fantasy owners are shocked about Reyes' ascent to being a player with a .738 slugging percentage, they are not alone: he is not even in the Yahoo player database.
Reyes had 41 home runs over the 2016 and 2017 seasons (and did have 102 RBI for Double-A San Antonio last season), but what he is doing this season goes beyond the home runs. He is also walking a ton (21 in 154 plate appearances) and his .442 OBP in 2018 is nowhere near his .333 OBP in 2837 minor league plate appearances. It would be great if Reyes just made adjustments this season, but many have worried that his strong start to the season has been inflated by the Pacific Coast League's offensively enhancing environments.
While there is very little data that shows that Reyes will see his minor league successes translate to the big leagues, his strong start to the season cannot be denied. He will likely find a daily place in the Padres lineup and should be added in deeper leagues.
