Freddie Freeman won’t return to the Atlanta Braves until after the all-star break, according to Braves Radio Net.
The first base slugger was originally expected to be back from a wrist injury soon, but that changed recently. Freeman won’t rejoin the Braves until sometime after the break, but a specific date has yet to be set.
Freeman’s wrist sprain caused him to miss a few games. He was maybe not even going to land on the DL, but that the news continues to get worse for Atlanta. The Braves (37-41) have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games, sitting six games out of first place in the NL East.
The 25-year-old was having another great season with Atlanta. He had a .299 BA with 12 HR, 41 RBI and 42 Runs in 2015 before the injury. Throughout his six-year MLB career, Freeman has made two all-star teams and has been the Braves best player.
It’s going to be hard for a rebuilding Braves team to make noise in the NL East without Freeman in the lineup, clogging up the middle of the order.
